I thought the same exact thing. In fact, at ~20:00 I was debating whether I should even watch the rest since it looked like SotW had self-destructed. Stuck around and watched it out of boredom, and come VoD I'm sitting there like "what... the hell..."

Definitely a great match though. SotW didn't give up and it's nice to see Japan making noise now, especially since Taiwan is holding Halls.

After watching both games, evil just got outplayed and outbuilt. I noted that the Wi assassin was far superior to the evil one in both build and tactics.

Also I'm surprised to see some of these teams stuck on such old builds. (Actually I'm not, since such a small minority actually innovates and designs new character and team builds.)

EvIL's still the same guild as always, with one player changed out for another (had to go to army).

First, there is like only 10 people in the entire EviL guild that GvG. I would say there is only 12-14 people in the entire guild total (if that much).
Second, unless you did not notice, it was the usual lineup. Only one of the mid line usually changes for EviL and rarely.

I think EviL is not on top of their game. I think they contemplated breaking up after the first GWWC. Probably burn out.

Them and War Machine are the 2 best GvG guilds EVER. I think WM is the favorite right now. They where doing incredible at the end of the season and they have used the new Faction skills better than any of the top guilds.

I am glad to see that EvIL (the last Pride) has finally lost a match, whether it be because of a change or what ever, atleast it gives other guilds hope to be on top. I will admit I was kind of sick of seeing one guild dominate the tortament scene as they did.

This game was rigged! Rigged I tells ya!

How can the number 1 guild who won the first championship go down so fast to a rank 17 guild (no offense to Wi).

It's just...inconceivable.

I was not commenting on whether or not Wi was good enought to be in the tourney but instead that technically they only made it because Deer dropped.

We lost the first game partially because we got outplayed, and partially due to bad luck. For bad luck, five catapult fires on their NPCs yields but a single archer. The catapult can be such a strong weapon at VoD but the fact that it randomly screws you sometimes drives me nuts.

As for being outplayed, it goes something like this - shortly after VoD hits we get the 'guild lord under attack' message. We have a couple guys on their catapult, and the rest of our team at their side gate. No one's in position to respond. Panic, everyone pulls back. Their NPCs and some of their players wipe out our catapult team while we're heading back, putting us down at a really, really bad time. We're pulled back into our base, and we don't have enough people out to try and hold the stand with the NPCs, so they wipe out ours and gain control.

I think the game would have been winnable, although uphill from there, but we got sloppy and took unneccessary deaths from their NPCs, and that was that.

Game two we got hammered by an awful miscalculation - our plan was to use Gale to interrupt their Ritualist's spirits, but we didn't realize they would bring in Ward of Stability in response to our thumpers. That put us at a huge build disadvantage that we couldn't wiggle out of.

It's the playoffs, not finals. And round 1 of them.

Also, it's PVP. Spoilers? What?

Very true, gvg is the same as HA in that respect, playing between 10pm and 2am GMT you get a higher quality of opposition, but play between 4am-2pm you get lots of poor teams. I think observer mode reflects that, you dont see a single gvg or HA match in the early hours, if you can afford to be awake at those sort of hours its the easiest way of getting gvg rank and fame.

Do they do anything cool for the community?

Was the build different from the typical AoD Assassin? If so, would someone be so kind as to post up what it is? Im at work and dying to know.

They do the only thing with any lasting impact: they move the metagame.

Well. It seems like the Ritualist was a good addition to the game. Now we'll just have to see if they get nerfed to all hell when all this is over. I sincerely hope not. Interesting times.
Also, it's about time Knockdown prevention was handed to another class besides warriors. Interesting times indeed.
