Personally, I thought ranger or mesmer were the most fun to play as. I'm not sure about other types of necromancers, but imo, minion masters aren't really that fun.
calendae
I have a ranger monk, he kicks ass and is fun to play. I find myslef filling in for whatever the group needs at the time. But remember, a jack of all trades is master of none.
Lasareth
Elementalist is really fun. Kill crap, solo if you are bored or looking for a challenge, and set up builds that can really stretch the limitations of your class
Gao the Nightmare
i love warrior mesmer, warior cause he has loads of hp and mesmer because of slowing down and chaos storm to a monster next to me then the next monster coming to atack me automaticly gets struck by chaos storm

anyone ever tried a w/ele? was thinking of trying one..thought it might be fun..any thoughts?
brad-
Ive seen the w/ele's out there, and they do fine with FS and MET shower...the problem is they make one cast and they're out of energy.
Its not a build i would recommend
I have a Ele/MO and he is actually excellent as a pure ele, or primary monk. As we all know, monks can be hard to come by, so i have no problem whatsoever exchanging skills to monk primary for a mission. Ill bring 3 ele skills for general purpose, and the rest monk skills. With mana storage and item +'s, you can really put out a volume of healing spells. I typically use dwyana's kiss, orison, heal other, and healing breeze, because they are cheap with a quick recharge. Ill case HB on the warrior as he's moving in and use the orison/dwana combo to heal after that, and Heal Other to get anyone in a pinch.
I havent made a big variety of char's like everyone else seems to have done, but im VERY happy with the E/MO.

I personally like my necromancer. They are very versatile and I have yet to actually get bored. And I am like you I have tons of different characters because I do get bored with them if I play them too often. I am an N/E and I have a blast. I will tell you that its tough to tank a mob but if you summon pets you should be able to enjoy yourself solo as well as in a group.

Play Monk in a fight you will never have a dull moment
As far as mesmer, necro, and ranger thay are underated classes with lots of damage potential. It all depends on yor play stile.
If you like to be close then war/ x
If yoo like to be far away mesmer, ranger, necro, elementalist
If you whant to heal Monk/ x

thanks for your post,i was think about trying a necromancer...why?...my guild leader had a lvl 13 necromancer/monk,summoned undead i belive, but he could solo with that character in many areas i could not(ranger lvl 15) the summoned creatrues really made it possible for him to solo everywhere i was considering making a necromancer...but the only thing i have to sacrafice another character, prolly gonna give the mesmer the boot...what would you guys do?

honestly i would delete the w/mo because imho, warriors are the most boring class to play (not saying its easy, just boring to me, no flame war please) since it's highly repetitive (again, just an opinion).

r/e is a very good combo,i had one but...you knoe i got bored, but thats just me i beacuse i got bored very easy...i find ranger/elementist a sort of nuker if you have the right skills, for example, the elite skill barage and firestorm/meteor shower...or a trappper/nuker the dmg starts adding up quickly

Ive been told to do otherwise because of the Energy Storage skill...Is Energy Storage a big deal? What exactly is it? Is it necessary for a Ranger Elementalist Combo?

The reason I think that is because they aren't like warriors in most games (bar WoW) and have tons of different attacks, and I believe they have just as many as any other class (not sure though, haven't checked).

Most characters will never have a lot more than the 30 energy a caster starts with. Even at high levels, 40-50 energy is common. (Warriors and Rangers have even less, of course.)
Elementalists can easily put at least 10 ranks in Energy Storage at high levels, which is +30 energy. It's not uncommon for an Elementalist to have twice as much energy as some other casters.
So, yeah, from an energy perspective, it's a big deal. There's a lot of people who make E/Necro, or E/Monk, or E/Mesmer, just for the energy. Often it's better to have the energy than the primary attribute for the other class. For instance, Energy Storage functions a lot like Soul Reaping, Divine Favor, or Expertise: They are all energy management skills, allowing you to act as if you had more energy. (Divine Favor is a little weird that way, but it's like getting extra heal spells.)
Elementalist is just the most straigtforward in that respect. Also, Elem/Ranger can work out quite well, or vice versa. The other caster classes often don't want to carry a bow, because that's less energy (via focus, rods, wands, or staves). Elementalist can afford to carry a bow better, because of Energy Storage. A R/El, though, gets the Expertise skills, which are pretty cool (and there are virtually no Energy Storage skills). Also, they can make better archers, and can pick up "Conjure Flame" or whatever to make their bow attacks stronger.

Well GoA, I suppose I think the best is a Monk/Mesmer, which I finished the game with and who does really well in UW and FoW with almost any group. Competent healing people will only have like 4 healing spells, a rez type spell and maybe a hex and condition fixer upper. That leaves 1 spot which can hold a number of low costs nasty mesmer skills.
I've just made it to Augury Rock with the second character I'm doing the game with, and he's a Mesmer/Ranger. I broke all the common sense rules as this guy uses a bow and doesn't even bother with Illusion or Inspiration (both at 0). Still though, for what I built him for he's excellent... awesome. Against casters it's a devastating build. Against things that use bows or poison or melee? Well um... that's what the warriors are there for.
