video games in korea are even bigger than sports in america and europe. when someone comes home from work in america or europe, they dont start playing basketball or soccer, whereas in korea, most people get involved with gaming. with so much public interest, professional gaming and spectators are a logical result. the only thing that takes away from it are the great variety of games out there, which means that not everyone can get into the same thing. the same can be said for sports, but there are many more games than sports. of course certain ones *cough starcraft cough* are more popular, but there is diversity nonetheless. guild wars, however, is rather unpopular in korea, as there are only two (one could argue three) competitive guilds remaining.
