Unwaking Waters rant
[FnG] Lazz
Is it just me? Or are there other Assasins finding this a pain to do? By pain I mean that its so akward to find a team. I go there, do the usuall LFG, and usually one of four things happen:
1. I get taken into a group by someone who is so desperate for a group they are randomly clicking on names. I usually go along with it believing there could be a chance, but most of the time its usually a mixture of warriors, rangers, ritualists and assasins with no monks for healing, and no ele to help against the dragon. We start the mission and then usually find there is no other team to go with, usually resulting in a combination of being overrun by the afflicted and getting lightning zapped by the dragon.
2. I click on a person already in a group, hoping they will let me in and they immediately reject me.
3. I click on a person already in a group and am placing my hopes on them accepting me, then after waiting several minutes they dissapear because they have gone into the mission.
4. I get into a group. A decent group. Then someone says something like "too many assasins" and I usually get the kick.
My apologies for this rant, its just annoying how I have been waiting in this area for 3 days now with all the above situations seemingly repeating themselves and was wondering if something similar is happening to anyone else.

Use henchs ... got master reward, first try, other side was a pure hench team too. Don't fight Afflicted + Kuunavang ... pulling works wonders.

yeah man... i easily did this mission with henchies and i'm an Assassin as well... got Masters Reward too
just play smart and maybe bring an interupt or two for when you go against him in the end

I occasionally go on this mission with PuGs just for the chests. (Yes, I'm honorable enough to finish the mission.) I've seen good and bad teams. Most of the miserable failures I've been on are teams that didn't know to stay away from the dragon when fighting the afflicted. These teams also didn't know that fighting in the middle of 8 scales of corruption was pretty much insta-death.
The best advice in this thread was to pull. It's absolutely essential that you get away from the dragon. (Yes, this gets harder to do as the mission progresses.)
The other essential thing to do is interrupt the dragon. As an Assassin you have no way to do this early on since you're melee and she hovers out of melee range. Either rely on your secondary's interrupts if you have them or make sure you have the interrupt ranger and mesmer on your henchie team.
Lastly, you're also experiencing Assassin Hate. It's a well known condition that affects many players these days. I think it will pass pertty soon.

I have found all the mission areas post-Faction capitol city to be pretty barren.
It's like people start faction farming and forget the rest of the game.

yea all missions are do-able with henchies, i usually hench it unless i wanna have some fun talking to some ppl or go with guildies, but yea if you cant get a group either make your own or take henchies.

Well you have to remember that assassins have very low armour, nothing compared to warrior armour. Most assassins die fast. As the DP rises, they only die faster.
This makes the assassin useless for PvE.
The majority of players is crap: 90% don't know how to play their profession (I actually counted how many people sucked in THK and fire islands: +/- 290 out of 320 people I looked at had no freaking clue. Like a W/E with nothing but fire magic damage spells even without winter, E/W frenzywanders, etc.)
If you think about how many new players will make ninjas, it's pretty safe to assume that 95% of all assassins are crap.
That's a 95% chance that you'll have dead weight/energy sink/overaggroer in your party.
If you were a monk, would you risk it?
I still need masters for unwaking on my monk. If you want help, whisper me X.x

I henched it on my warrior and switched to w/r, partly because I wanted to be stylish with my Black Moa but mostly for savage shot to interrupt kuunavang

This makes the assassin useless for PvE. And it's exactly this sentiment that makes Assassins so unliked. Granted, it's also one of the big reasons why many Sins suck so badly, but the Sin was never EVER meant to tank.
Which brings me to a revelation that I discovered while playing with my melee Ranger in PvE: Monsters are REALLY stupid.
Monsters attack the first thing that comes into range, if you just give them a sec. After that, the smart Warrior that went in first will hold aggro and other melee class characters can move in without pulling damage away from the tank. In the case of the Assassin, they have ways of leaving the area after spiking via teleport (I kinda wish more Sin's would remember that skill).
Yeah, a lot of players have not a clue as to what they're doing, and can't seem to figure out how to get better. But, how many of those bad players end up only using Henchies because they can't find a group that's willing to "Take a Gamble" (or, as I like to do it, "Offer Some Friggen Help")?
And I Monk, too. If I get someone that's repeatedly pulling a stupid after I've tried to help them, I don't waste anymore energy on them. They die, they don't get res'd, problem solved.

You know what's funny. Panaku, one of my favourite henchies besides Argo, is also usually the first to die among the henchies...so that's telling isn't it?
VGJustice
No, there's nothing telling about the Henchmen not being smart and free-thinkers.

Oh but Panaku is a "free-thinker", much freer than say Devona or Talon. Pay more attention to his AI.

did it with three guildies and hentchies on both sides

Its not that hard, just you but you seem to have it bad. The game has soon discovered that assasins are not tanks and that they die if you blow on them with their pathetic armor. So without the hassle of taking a walking rez waster they just reject them outright. Though unfair it is quite true. Most poeple don't know how to play assasins right anyways. Asides from that its the monks that really matter in this one...

Form a group, I nearly completed all the missions with my assassin, all with PuG's. Most of the time I'm forming a party, because obviously you can't get in one cause nobody wants you.
