Buying Character Names
ohyo
So I want to buy this guy's character name he doesn't want anymore. Its worth alot to both of us and we don't know each other at all. How do we make this transaction without scamming eachother?
Opeth11
You can't make such a transaction without guarantee that neither of you will be scammed.
Your only hope is to trust him, and make sure that he trusts you.

half the stuff i want to buy from people is withheld from be cause i cant trust everyone; can't I get a GW GM to help or something? is username-trading against the COC?
Kaospryx
Um, if he doesn't want the character name anymore, how is it valuable to both of you? Either way, there's no way you can make a transaction without being scammed, outside of finding a mutual mediator.

this name is pritty popular/cool. He no longer wants it because of an offer i gave to him for the name; therefore it is value to him.
should i rephraze the offer to make it fair?
"I will be in debt of $XXXX if you delete this charactername. You reserve the right to report me." ?

But then, would they take your money offer seriously?
I highly doubt that they would moderate such actions as to deleting and remaking characters with correct names for a sum.

should he put his name up on ebay for me to 'buy-now' and then buy back gold if he wants?
Opeth11
I could see that working, but it does get a little complicated when it involves Ebay. EBay, however, is against the EULA which you've agreed to prior to installation of Guild Wars.
Not that anyone cares, really. -_-
If the trader would trust you enough to put his name up on ebay, then wouldn't there be enough trust to make the original transaction?

the whole thing just seems shady; so does every non-trade transaction. meyB I should join his guild; get to know him and gain his trust a lil.

buying anything on gw using any monitory value is against the EULA. closed.
