After capping Air of enchantment I was very dissapointed with the skill. Originally I though cold be useful for some boon prot builds, but after testing it I think its a crappy elite.

skill description:
----------------
Enchantment Spell. For 4-9 seconds, Enchantments cast on target other ally cost 5 less energy.
----------------

It looks like it could be useful, I was thinking 2e spammable spells on a boon prot could be useful. Until I found out you cant cast it on yourself.

So it would appear that in order for it to be useful another char would have to come close to spamming it on you.

Personally I hope it is just bugged, since in its current state it seems unreasonable to use. Most importantly if it is bugged I hope it gets fixed soon.

So what do you(the GW community) think it is bugged, crappy, or useful?

You're reading the skill wrong. The enchantment is meant for the target of future enchantments. For example if you cast Air of Enchantment on a warrior and then cast zealots fire on him, you can then spam reversal of fortune on him for absolutely no cost.

How can it be bugged if it works exactly as described? o_O
As for useless, hardly.

Obviously if you're the only monk you're in trouble, as the energy management only applies to others. But in a party? All of your protection monk's enchantments become 5 cheaper.
It's energy management that can be used by a secondary or primary monk effectively as well.

Think Peace and Harmony on steriods, in a way. Recasting it on all of your allied monks actually costs quite a bit of what you get from having it on yourself, despite being able to enchant yourself. But Air of Enchantment can more than pay for itself.

From a 20% enchantment mod, you can normally squeeze about 7-8 or so 5 cast spells, including Air of Enchantment itself (which has a .25 cast), which gives you all the benefits, with no cost, and triggers Divine Favour for you again.

Wow I guess that makes more sense, thank you for clarifying. Even though I think the skill still seems a little meh.

there has been an increased popularity of the air of enchantment-zealots smite build in pvp (HA, TA). i've used and abused it and it's pretty effective.

Actually, I'm not even sure why I brought up Peace and Harmony, which has nothing to do with this really o_O

But no, I'm aware of how it functions.

Taking Air of Enchantment into the arena and trying to use that as a monk build for other than Mo/R or smiting off an ally melee-er is a bad idea because you can't cast it on yourself.

What I meant to imply was that in a group, you can make effective use of it because anyone that casts off the enchanted target can save a ton of energy, not to mention whatever energy management they already have, and with more than one person using it, especially, anyone in the party can be enchanted.

If you're running a Zealot's build, what's nice about it is that you can use it both offensively, smiting off your warriors, and defensively, cheapening the spells cast on a victim to recover.

Defense/Offense hybrids are my favourite kind of build. Not for effectiveness, I just like to be able to play a role in both aiding my allies and harming my enemies directly. Though maintaining a good offense and/or defense both accomplish the same indirectly.

I apologize for the very poor choice of wording in the prior post.

Well after doing some testing with it(now that I understand how it works), I must say its not so bad. I've found it is a very good for keeping those all to common tanking assassins alive in pve, without burning all of my energy.

AoEnchant pays for itself after 1 enchant. Since its 5en and all monk skills are >5en.

You can keep a char protted up indefinately, thats why people are calling for its nerf =/ (bah). Its 5sec recharge means its decently spammable.

Typically, if you do a AoEn, PS, RoF, Guardian, RoF combo. Thats 5 DF heals (~240hp) + 2 Rof heals(~100-150hp) for 10 en (you just saved 20en), you also dropped guardian and PS on your target.

After the combo, your AoEn and PS would be recharged for either repeating the combo or dropping that on another teammate. It is VERY powerful.

Also AoEn discounts itself, so thats why you get the Dual smites going in alliance, z-fireing indefinately.

Give smite monks a break...they've been nerfed to hell already lol. Not like you just can't kite out of the AoE damage lmao

Or in pvp, strip the zealots from the enemy monk, or strip the enchantment stack off of the dude he is smiting off of. Its not like zealots is buried on an AoEn smiter.

well it appears that you are attempting to use this skill to heal people so yes you may find this skill useless
its not a very efficient method of energy management if you are a boon prot trying to keep your team alive because it lasts too briefly to attempt to blanket spam it on all your allies plus you cant use it on yourself
however this skill has decent (but i think many have overrated) its use in smite builds

do not use the AoE zealots fire monk in RA!!!!! it's way too hard to keep yourslef alive since this elite does not work on yourself. do it in TA or HA where you have other monks to help you. sure you can do it in RA and fin a group but u have a slim chance of getting a monk to kick up your slack or keep you alive
