Does Amity work?

For 8-20 seconds adjacent foes cannot attack. For each foe, amity ends if that foe takes damage. I casted it, before I walked into a pack of hydras (Was supposed to work for 18 seconds). Guess what; They still attacked me. If they didn't, it would have been a great skill for a runner monk.
Does this spell actually work? What is it supposed to do, if it doesn't give me free passage through the baddies?

It's physical attacks... Meteor, fireball etc... amity doesn't work. If you want to stop hydra, try spellbreaker. or go ranger secondary with running spells. I can rn my monk through the entire desert without much trouble.

It doesn't say anything about physical attacks. It just says "Attack". That should go for everything that hurts, IMHO.
Chances are that it only works on the foes who are next to you at the moment you cast it. In that case it would be the most useless spell in the game, since I can't stay there forever.

Amity is the elite version of Pacifism.
Attack means - attack (not spell, not hex). GW is very specific (or at least they try to be) on how everything works. The spell specificly states, it ends if they take damage. This means regardless of how damage occurs, the spell ends.
Evicerate is an attack, Vampiric Touch is an attack, Fire Storm is a spell.
Vampiric Touch can go through Spellbreaker, because it is not a spell. Meteor Storm can hit someone using Spellbreaker, if the person next to him/her/it is not under the spell and is the target.
You cast that on a ranger, the ranger can set a trap in your path. The Ranger can smile and you get hit for damage. Samething goes with Necromancers. They can cast corpse explosion and you take damage. They can cast any spell on you because they are spells, not attacks.
Amity isn't a good protection spell. Useful vs Warriors and Rangers, but Rangers can get their pets to attack you.
Indirect attacks are all fair game, so becareful.

I wasted a 1K cap skill on that

Well, actually I wanted to use it against warrior harrassers in RA, but the recharge time of 45 seconds ticked me off. I want to heal, but that warrior does more damage than I can heal. He is harrassing me, so I can't heal my mates.
Why does GW makes these sucky elites?

Everything else you said is right, but Vampiric Touch is not an attack. It's just a skill, and doesn't fall into any of the official categories.
