No skill quests for Canthan characters in Tyria?

And so it was, after my rant on the other thread about how we can't change Tyrian characters to have Canthan looks, I created a new Canthan monk

Brought her to Lion's Arch, and had her ran to Beacons, and immediately I noticed something amiss.. why didn't master saberin have a quest for me? Normally I'd get heaps of skills from that guy but here it seems like there.. isn't

Is it some kind of glitch or something?

Quests don't work on Canthan characters prior to Lions Arch. Anything else after that works out fine.

The best way to get your skills for a Canthan I think is just to do the quests and stuff on the Canthan side first (or even a Tyrian for that matter). You'll get skill points out the yin-yang over there. Then you can go to Tyria and have quite a surplus :-)

Skill points aren't the issue, money is.

At least you could still do the story missions.

i suggest going to tyria first and doing the quests thru kryta, jungle, and desert to get the skills you CAN get off quests. or just look em up and remember not to buy those skills if you want to do cantha first. im sure ive already bought some i could get but i finally caught on.

for sins and rits, you CAN get skills for your secondary this way thru quests- not sure if that was gonna happen for the new chars but it did.

I wasnt able to do the last hog quest with my canthan......though, I already have the skill it gives out. Anyone else canthan not able to do it (farmer dirk in the ascalon settlement).......? I have been able to do the rest of them (so far) after lions arch, but not that one for some reason.

I couldn't get The Last Hog quest either. There are a bunch of quests that aren't available. I did get one that gave me a skill...the one Aidan gives just before you go to Gates of Kryta.

I just changed the 2ndary of my Canthan Ranger to .... Warrior. Surprise surprise the 2ndary skills are even less than what you get for a Tyrian 2ndary change! IMO this shows a bad planning of the game and of the add-ons. (Makes you wonder how ANet going to assure that the 2 extensions being under development going to fit to the big picture).

I then went to Kryta and bam surprise surprise!!! I can jump to quests which have nothing to do with the Canthan-Tyria story line. I can go back 2 places (Aidan) get the quest and go 2 places forth again to get the reward (Kryta Gates)... Bah! It blasted the story line to pieces, I gave up my hopes for a story line in the 1st Month after opening but that one... (reminded me how much of the Diablo spirit lies still within GW!)

Perhaps the question here is whether any of you people tried to run from Kryta directly to Ascalon and try to get one of the 1st quests: Defend the Wall or The King's Message. We must remember that a lot of quests are related to missions and unless you accomplish a mission the quest won't be available. Which is also logical why during my run backwards towards Ascalon in Beacon's Perch Master Saberlin won't give me any quest at all.

But alas this proved to be wrong therefore here I am, pissed off totally at the corrupt story line (at least they could have collapsed for instance the cellar leading to Kryta thus making the way towards Ascalon totally unpassable for game forks with Canthan characters but noo... we can get Tyrian explorer labels. I completed at least the 1st mission and thus I start the mission sequence for the tyrian missions, at least they can not deprive me from that

BTW: the same is also true for the Tyrian characters... none of the Canthan newbie skill quests are available for them and therefore they must pay for these skills.

he reason the early were blocked off was to preserve the stroy line. But lots bitched and whined to mthese areas were opened up. And now people are bitching and whining about the storyline not making sense.

Aye Hockster, I believe it is a typical "conflict of interests" syndrome. You have:
- storyline & missions
- skill quests
- farming areas
- running for your guildies

Well apparently both sides have right and now we have finally access to the last 2 points of the above interest list

It blasted the story line to pieces, Hate to burst your bubble, but the storyline already didn't make sense, even if you're moving forward through it with a Tyrian character. As has been pointed out many times before, it made no sense that the player could return to the Ascalon areas after fleeing Ascalon with Rurik. And it made no sense that the player could still hang out in Kryta after discovering [something about the White Mantle]. Many Tyrian players replay the early missions to help out or pick up bonuses they missed. So if you really want the storyline to be preserved so that it makes sense, it would mean closing off areas of Tyria to Tyrian characters that have completed certain missions, and nobody would want that.
