Power leveling my pet

Just a couple quick questions...

First, I'm a W/R. Where would be a good place to quickly power level my low level pet? I'm also trying to train it into a Deadly pet.

Second, do scrolls apply to my pet?

You should farm with small groups in lower shiverpeaks.(perhaps farm crawls with scrolls ready.)

A "deadly" pet? No such thing, dude. Your choices are Dire, Elder, and Hearty.

Lastly, no, scrolls have no effect on a pet.

Actually, there's Aggressive and Playful too.

I sent mine to the hydra playpen, and it became dire ...

are you actually able to tame the large phoenixes?

No, I tried, and they cannot be charmed. On a side note, if you are looking to charm a phoenix, and if you get there, don't bother competing with another person looking to charm the bird. Follow the path past the armor/weapons guys and keep going, there are tons of phoenix birds available for charming. It's a long walk, but they are there (around the emperor, you will know when you get there).

Also when I defeated Shiro I noticed there was a phoenix but he was in a room sealed off to entrance. Charm animal works through walls .

Unless someone rushes off and kills them all, like certain individual on my party did.
