Awesome.
One question, though: on that map it appears as though he's gotten to Vizunah Square (Foreign Quarter), which I thought was only open to Tyrian characters. Is there some way I can get in there? Or was that part of the map done by inserting a screenshot from another character?

Local characters can get to foreign. Once you get to a certain point in the game, the gate to foreign disappears and a local character can just walk right in. I did it after I got to Senji's, I just grabbed a henchy party and walked there.

Thanks, I got it now. Too bad it was only 0.1%, but every little piece helps.
TheDriftingSoul
How do you take a screenshot at that res?
Smasher/Devourer
My guess is that the author of the map used an image editor to piece it together from many screenshots. I don't think there's a single command to save the whole map.
kade
Thanks for this map, couldn't have found that last 0.4% without it
TheDriftingSoul
Does anyone have an estimate at what % the Jade Quarry is worth. I am at 98.4% and REALLY need some help. I cant figure out what else I need. :-(

Maps folder has various levels of quality of the large, zoomed-in, hi-res map as well as two different resolutions of zoomed-out.
Livingston's thread has an entire summary of things that have been discussed here, and as such it should be your very first destination. Read through it in its entirety, as it has everything you'd ever want to ask or know how to do!
HOW TO BEST USE THE FULL-RES, ZOOMED-IN MAPS FROM ABOVE:Download one.
Open the image in the program of your choosing (I use IrfanView, it handles large images flawlessly and is free).
Open up Guild Wars in windowed mode (keep the image open too)
Open your minimap [default key is 'U'], and make it as large as possible (fill up the entire Guild Wars screen)
By using Alt-Tab or the like, swap between Guild Wars and your image viewer, adjusting what's in your minimap (click-drag) and/or the image, until they are exactly lined up (i.e. there is no longer any difference when you alt-tab back and forth). This may require you to resize my map, but IrfanView does that well too.
Once you have them perfectly lined up, rapidly switch back and forth (again using alt-tab or its equivalent) and note where the differences are (they should be easily discerned using this technique).
After noting where discrepancies are, move onto the next area. Drag your minimap to this new one, begin the lining up process again, and then repeat the rapid-switching back and forth.
Repeat until you've covered all of the explorable map.
Map all the spots you've found, and report back to me if you've found something I'm missing!

Victory! Big thanks to the author of that map, it was really helpful with the last few tenths.
TheDriftingSoul: I think the Jade Quarry is worth less than 1%, though it'll definitely get you a lot closer. It's hard to find a game there, true, but it does happen from time to time. Usually about 8pm CST (GMT -6) is when I've had the most luck getting in.

any tryian with 100% map?
Hidden in the Mist
I have 98.9% on mine. Can't seem to access the Shing Jea Arena to find that last 1.1%.
Juicey Shake
To those with 100% maps [as at least 3 have been revealed] : Could you please post a 1280x1024, zoomed out, HUD-less [ctrl + H + prntscreen] overview of your map?
Thanks!
Thanks!
TheDriftingSoul
Tyrians can't get 100% because they still cant access both the arena(.3-.4%) and starting area(.7%) of the monestary island.
Leighwyn
I maxed out at 99.4%
I've compared closely to the 100% map linked here, and have either an equivalent amount or more in some areas so this MAY be a maximum.
Hidden in the Mist
Hm, how the hell did you get that much Leighwyn? I can't find any stray fog that needs uncovering.
Leighwyn
What i did was load up the 100% map image (full res) here, and then line it up with my own U minimap, and then alt tab back and forth and back and forth to see where the discrepancies were. And I've maxed out at 99.4% using that method (and have more than the map in some places, even).
Edit: Now up to 99.5%, got the spot around dragon throat I knew I was missing, plus a tiny dot from the undercity!

Smasher/Devourer
Instead of going back and forth between the game and an image viewer, just switch your game to windowed mode so you can look at the two maps side by side. You're far less likely to miss things that way, though you still have to look very closely.
Leighwyn
I disagree. I missed stuff that way. The method I mentioned about switching back and forth was with the game in windowed mode, and the image program opened up as well. You get the U map and the image viewer map lined up perfectly (via alt tabbing between them [but the game still not in fullscreen]), then quickly go back and forth and you see much more reliably what you are lacking.
I originally thought I was stuck at 99.0%, but then did the above and now am stuck (probably for good until monastery opens up) at 99.5%
If I have time later tonight, I'll collage together a map for us Tyrians to compare against, since mine is more complete than the one linked in this thread. Perhaps when comparing, someone will notice things they have but I don't...and we can get even closer (which will probably feel even worse heh)

QoH
This is crazy.
So we can say that a canthan character can reach tyrian grandmaster title, but a tyrian can't achieve canthan grandmaster title.(?)
Tobias Funke
Does the Undercity and Xianqua Skyway count twice?
Leighwyn
Nope, but some of the skyway area is only revealed through exploring the undercity. And yes, apparently canthans can now get 100% tyrian thanks to the new update but tyrians have no chance at getting 100% canthan, as there seems to be less wiggle room and no way for us to get into the training area.
Leighwyn
This post has a link to my own Canthan map, continuously updated as I find spots that I'm missing. This is a 100% map already, but it's always good to be perfect.
How to best use this map:Download it. It's just over 3mb, best not to open in a browser.
Open the image in the program of your choosing (I use IrfanView, it handles large images flawlessly).
Open up Guild Wars in windowed mode (keeping the image still open...hope your PC isn't crap and can handle the resource management
)
Open your minimap [default key is 'U'], and make it as large as you are comfortable with.
By using alt-tab or the like, swap between Guild Wars and your image viewer, adjusting the position of your minimap (click-drag) or the image, depending on your preference
Once you have them with areas that are perfectly lined up, rapidly switch back and forth (again using alt-tab or its equivalent) and note where the differences are (they should be easily discerned using this technique).

Having a wee bit of trouble. How do you uncover these two areas? One is in Pongmei Valley, the other is near Arborstone.
EDIT: Uncovered Arborstone area, Pongmei Valley one is left.

Leighwyn
I don't really recall how you uncover the "farmland", but you have a finite number of zones to check. Just go to all of the neighboring areas and see which one does the trick.
JoeB
Leighwyn, your posts have been very helpful to me in both Tyria and Cantha, thanks you. I have a Tyrian character that has 97.4% of Tyria scouted and 93.3% of Cantha scouted. Right now I'm working on Cantha and I'm trying to make sure I'm 100% in Luxon before I leave there for good to align with Kurzick. I know I'm missing some areas in Kurzick but I'm not concerned about that right now.
Would you take a look at my map and tell me if you see anything especially in Luxon but also in Kaining or the starter island? Also, I'm quite certain you can use my map to get the last you need for 100%. I see many areas in my map that are not scouted in yours. TIA -Joe

JoeB: I'm honestly a big fan of the zoomed-in comparison method I recently posted here, in Cantha the zoomed-out just isnt as useful. I dunno if its the colors or the clouds or what, but I just find it harder than with Tyria to pick out differences a lot of the time. Here is what I DID find with yours though...
STARTER ISLAND
Zen Daijun (explorable area maybe), travel due south of the city itself. There is a dock, etc. that you are lacking.
Eastern edge of Monastery Overlook, which you can get from the seitung harbor zone
A dot you can get from inside the monastery, sort of the SW corner where the arena guard and some tablets are.
Some of the southernmost "snowcovered" area, where there is a greenish center. You can reveal more of the minty green part.
LUXON TERRITORIES
Jade Quarry
Part of the Mount Qinkai zone, maybe reacahable frmo Pogmei, dunno, but it's part of that big white structure, and more specifically part of the "U" thing on it.
Maishang Hills, north-middle edge
CITY AREAS
Part of Nahpui Explorable area, over where the jades live. Give you some more of the black thing
Vizunah eastern edge
Raisu Palace explorable zone, the western half of it
Lots of parts in Imperial Sanctum.
KURZICK
not looked at.
Once again, I'd like to reiterate that you should really really try the method I mentioned here, using the zoomed in map and your own minimap lined up and swapped back and forth.
Oh, and i didn't notice anything you had that I didnt. Could you perhaps list what it is you thought I was missing? Thanks.

so much of factions to explore X_X
BuGi
How can you explore Imperial Sanctum that much?
Leighwyn
You just...do? I dunno, there aren't any tricks to it. Run around lol
brosse
I couldn't find the way to the northern part of imperial sanctum either
JamSan
The northern part of imperial sanctum is where you get sent when Shiro binds you.
brosse
Any tips on getting him to banish you? When I go in solo he never does and when I go in with hench he always banishes them...

Same with me, he does seem to banish the healers more often than the others though, perhaps thats the key.

On my map it seems like I could get 0.1% by reaching Breaker Hollow Balkony.
the same applies for one small edge of House zu Heltzer South East corner.

Leighwyn, my mistake. I thought I was looking at your map but it must have been someone else's. The map I was looking at didn't even look like it had completed the last mission. How do I make a map like the one you uploaded for comparison, it is an odd resolution? I have both Photoshop and I just downloaded IrfanView so I can do whatever. I scouted the areas you mentioned and I'm up to 95.1% now. It took FOREVER to finally get into Jade Quarry but I managed and got .4% out of it. If you can tell me how to make a map like yours, I'll see if I had anything I didn't see in yours. -Joe
Seraface
Um... not to be a complete newb... but how did you get your cantha chars into the Crystal Desert? I thought you can't access Prophecies missions if you're from Factions, and that means that you can't access Sanctum Cay. As far as I know, that's the only road to the crystal desert.
BuGi
You can access every tyrian mission with canthan characters. The missions before LA were unaccesible before the last update though.
