Okay Factions has got alot of flak...on the PvE side specifically (pvp is a whole other thread)

I think I can boil it down to 3 main sins that every video game developer should know.

Are you ready pay attention....

1. All video gamers HATE escort missions:

seriously this is one of the biggest joked about things in the industry....it is proven time and time again how much ppl hate them. STOP MAKING THEM.

2. All video gamers HATE being beaten by the clock:

Fine put 40 bosses in my way. Make it so I have to carefuly chose my route, and pull enemies away as not to get overwheelmed. For god sake though..don't make it so if I don't rush through a level I die. We hate this! STOP DOING IT.

3. Don't make cheap A$$ last bosses:

Look last bosses are spposed to be difficult..fine fine we like a challange. But don't make one that ISN'T a challange, and his only recourse is to use cheap a$$ skills on you that you cannot couner or use on him....make him immune to knockdowns and interrupts...etc etc...this is JUST B.S. STOP ALREADY....

1.) Yeah, Gyala Hatchery sucked balls, but I finally beat it with henchies, O_o

2.) is it that one where you rescue Vizu? I thought that one was easy.

3.) hmmm... haven't met Shiro yet lol.

1) I'm glad you chose to pick on this rather than fedex quests. Really.

2) Yes plz make PvE easier, is not easy enough to try a few times and plough through mobs, we must go reaaaaaally slow!

3) No matter what level the lass boss is, 1v9, using in-game skills = owned.

Adding new monster skills is the only thing that makes them dangerous, and Impossible Odds is such an awesome skill

I'd agree with the second note from OP, Run against time isn't very funny ..especially if rewards are based on the consumed time in a mission.

In Prophecies missions, bonuses were found by exploring little bit outside of the mission path and you could clear for example Abaddon Mouth in your own pace. In Factions missions, if you want to get Master Reward, you don't have a chance to explore anything but clock while running through enemy groups and hoping that mhenlo doesn't die on the way...

It's not fun to try to get Master Rewards in all missions, especially if you happen to did Raisu Palace 1 sec too long or something.

I'd enjoy playing missions much much more if the 'playing with own pace' factor would be there..

1) I have to agree Factions is chalked full of escort missions, really thought that all game makers knew that escort missions was on the top ten list of most hated things on earth and was phased out a few years ago due to suck level being high. I was going to buy at least two extra slots but I have had second thought about buying them, due to hate of these missions. If I don’t buy the slots it’s for that reason and that reason only.

2)Have to some what agree, there goes tactics and pulling mass mobs of hurt and death. People standing around going can I buy a key.

3)Just be happy it isn’t an Oni the insane health regain (even on some other boss) is a bit over the top if you don’t have a full group of eight you are good as dead. Why if I had a skill for my assassin like that I wouldn’t have such a hard time getting into a group.

I'd enjoy playing missions much much more if the 'playing with own pace' factor would be there.. A simple solution for that: forget the master rewards. Unless you are one of those who go after titles even if it's not fun.

1/ Escort quests and missions are made so that you can't run the quests, which is somehow clever, but I do agree that they're the worst unless you play a healer...

2/ The idea of time running is not that bad, even if it would be really better if they had instead of a time-based award for the Missions, a bonus-based on, just like in Prophecies.

3/ I'm just glad the final combats (Shiro, Urgoz or Kanaxai) are not simple, where would be the fun otherwise? There's always a weakness somewhere, for example, Shiro hates one thing: blindness...

I dont get the last shiro mission, if you notice there is no assassin NPC to choose from if you use hench.
I didnt think about it really until I got my ass handed to me a couple of times and then picked up a Random assasin standing around in the outpost.
Mission done in 2 mins! Wheres the logic in that? Why make it so easy to complete with an assassin?

I've had a fair number of good groups get to the last area of Raisu Palace only to run out of time before they can clear all the bosses. One of those teams impressively made it there while being down 2 people (1 drop, 1 afk since the start). We got punished for not getting there 2 minutes sooner on a mission full of exploding guys and aoe eles with sliver armor.

I've never had problems with timed missions before (Elona Reach, Dunes of Despair, Tahnnaki Temple). Playing conservatively, but smartly, should still allow you enough time to complete a mission. Every mission except for Raisu Palace follows this model.

From Guild Wiki:

Shiro's other devastating skill, Meditation of the Reaper, prevents him from taking damage worth 700 dealt to him. After this damage has been absorbed, the skill ends and he steals 20 health from each party member for every second he was in his stance. Therefore, if Meditation of the Reaper was active for over 20 seconds, he will all but kill the entire party. Therefore it is imperative that damage output be fully directed to him to end this skill quickly. Final Note: This is a skill, which means this cannot be removed by stance removing skills such as Wild Blow or Wild Strike.

Shiro's third powerful skill is Impossible Odds, where for 10 seconds, he does mass amounts of damage to all foes in the area everytime he hits. Note that this is also a skill like Meditation of the Reaper and cannot be removed. Shiro will use this skill at near death to deal huge amounts of damage allowing him to quickly dispose of the entire party in a couple of strikes. It is imperative that everyone scatter to avoid the AOE damage from this skill.

So I guess I'm saying.....how will wild blow help?

If OP meant boss was too easy, I agree. Problem is that it's hard to balance a boss to make it hard and at same time completeable, because with the amount of skills that negate effects in GW (blindness, kd, etc) he is simple to counter.

Maybe make him immune to blind, immune to kd, 1/3 hex duration... then that would take more effort than grabbing some hench and spam aoe/kding him dead.

So I guess I'm saying.....how will wild blow help? Battle Scars. When he steals all health from his attacks, and when he attacks in Impossible Odds, you really dont want him stealing that much.

Haggerd,

can you expound on that a bit?

I really don't get your meaning. Is batle scars a warrior skill we should use? It that what you mean? And if so where is it best used?
