noob here monk/mesmer build

k i just bought the game cause i thought it was awesome....and i wanted to be a healer/mesmer healer, but i didnt know what weapons/attributes/armor to start off with and then when i was done it said that i needed to choose some skills, but when i pressed back it said that the skills were locked. and what is a signet? im so confused could anyone help me out im thinking of returning the game cause its so overwhleming

Sounds like you went straight into pvp mode, maybe it'd be better to start a pve character to start with while you get the hang of things?

yep, after clicking create, choose campaign mode.
pvp mode is for when your familiar with the game.
