Is it worthwhile making a 55monk?

Is it worthwhile making a 55monk? I heard all the farming spots had gone

Well there are other reasons for making one than farming, although farming is the main reason. I don't know about farming spots being nerfed, probably just people complaining after the anti-farm code kicked in on an area they farmed too much. But I don't really farm myself, so can't answer your question

If it's pure for the gold, you can make a 55 Health runner, but I would recommend a non 55 Health runner anyway, as I find them more effecive (even though I haven't done much runs with my Monk).
You can also make a nice ammount of gold through Alliance Battles. About each 2 runs, which take about 15-20 minutes you can get a Jadeite/Amber, which sell for 1K+.
The last option is just doing stuff in Factions with alot of good chests (like Elite missions), as this stuff sells for alot.
Of course, I would still recommend trading to get money quickly, but that's very boring, and you need to have alot of knowledge about the prices of items.

It is worthwhile to make a 55 monk even if there aren't that many spots for them (in prophecies; I see lots of opportunities for them in Factions). If you don't have a monk at all, it's good to make one because monks are fun. If you have a monk you can get a cheap set of Ascetic armor in LA and buy 5 sup monk runes (they're rather cheap nowadays) and get a -50hp offhand (seems like this got a bit expensive, but you can always start a new character and do the quest).

55 monks will pay back their cost rather quickly. If nothing else, you can do troll runs quickly and get a few hundred gold per run. You can also do the giants behind the troll cave for steel/runes.

there are heaps of decent farming locations, and the anti-farm code isn't and never has been a problem if you pace yourself

Last time I checked the biggest farming nerf was griffs. other then that, theres many places to farm.

IMHO, just the feel of that first successful smite run is worth it... I won't even mention the the feeling of an IDS drop on your first successful ice imp solo run...

almost done with my 55...just need the 15pt attribute from Vanyi but she won't give it to me! dang her. Do you need to be ascended to get that one? Also is the asthetis in LA better then the one in ascalon? i got the cheap one from there. Anyways a 55 is fun...did it with my ele and am sure a 55 monk is much more fun.

Solo monk is the only thing i can really do at work, inbetween calls and such. gets boring sometimes, but storge stays full of money. Allways have good weapons to give to guildys. Also to the post above me a line or two,(arkantos) I will adopt you

In order to get that quest from Vayni, you need to change your secondary via one of the desert outpost's quests.
