This is simply the "interest gauging" stage; I'm posting on community forums to see if there is enough interest to warrant such a tournament in the first place. Details are obviously scant at this time, since we can't get into that stage of planning until we know for sure there are enough people interested to run such a tournament to begin with. I really don't know the concentration of Guild Wars PvP players in the southern california area, although I have run into a few here and there. It would be great to get some seriously good competition involved.

What I can tell you is this:
- The tournament would be held at a LAN center in San Diego, California. I believe the Mission Valley mall is the location of the new store, which is under construction at the moment.
- The tournament date is unknown, but I will say tentatively "sometime in August", however that is subject to change (if anything, it could be pushed back to september)
- There will most likely be an entry fee of somewhere between $10-20 per person
- There will be prizes, including cash and computer gear. Depending on Anet/NCsoft support (if we can get it), possibly GW paraphanelia and maybe even something cool in-game. We tend to run tournaments at a loss financially, meaning the prizes are usually pretty good. Last Day of Defeat tournament we ran, which was pretty small but attended by CPL teams, there were about 30-40 participants and the first place team made well over $1000 in cash and prizes.
- Tournament formats would most likely include 8vs8, 4vs4, and 1vs1, using guest invites and the scrimmage system to arrange teams. This may be subject to change - for example we could choose 6vs6 over 8vs8, to increase the total number of teams involved and the number of matches that can be played at once.
- Computers will be supplied (obviously), but participants would be free to bring their own mouse, keyboard, headphones, etc.
- How teams will be formed is unknown at the moment. It could be randomly drawn teams the day of the tournament, we could have people choose their teammates, or we could even have people sign up as teams when they register.
Since running a GW tournament is pretty much a new thing, they are not exactly established or "standardized" like say, CS or starcraft. Therefore we will have to get a consensus from the community regarding how the tournament should be run, what format we should use, various rules to be enforced and such.
This isn't an official sign-up thread or anything... at this point we are simply looking for responses such as "that sounds cool, i would probably go" and whatnot. So let's hear it... after reading this, would you be interested?
