Taking this personal?

Ok well I usually enjoy entering a nice Fort Aspenwood mission, either side doesn't matter but just for fun. Of course an afk every so often... but now we got leavers shouting "LONG LIVE KURZICKS, SUXONS LUXONS!!!" then leaves and ruins it for the team usually. Now why would someone do it, its not really like a battle is going on?
If any of you do it? Why your just ruining others fun while you pretend your 10 screaming a battle cry.

It usually is younger people that do that, but most people get mad that they lost and they try to make themselves feel better by making fun of the other team.

This is why I have in the past suggested that the AI take control of players at certain times, and lock the player out of their account until the AI is released by the party leader/end of mission.
1) At any point where the character is either lagging, disconnected, or or remains stationary till outside of party range the AI begins to opperate.
2) Disable mapping while in missions or PvP matches, by causing a character to be controlled by the AI if a player attempts to map.
3) Extend the kick into non-mission/non-PvP explorable areas.
4) If a player does not remain stationary but moves while continuing to deny team resources (sabotage) or using provoking words then this because evidence to consider for a ban.
But maybe allow the player to view their character until their account is released back to them.
The only difficulty I see is that I have had characters engaged by parties under false pretext of doing something I needed, who then changed course. As soon as my skills got them close to their goal, they ignored what they recruited me for, got what they wanted, and left. It is for this reason some of my characters still do not have bonuses at places like Iron Mines. This is why I only recommend a consideration for a ban, because I do feel persons willing to bight the bullet have a right to protest being treated immorally by other players.

This weekend was frustrating for me in the Fort...between leavers and AFkers. In one group we had an obvious AFKer, so everyone left but me and one other player. Yeah, it's frustrating having a leech, but you punish everyone else when you leave. The mission is still doable if you have one person that's AFK. I do hope Anet can come up with a solution to this problem.

Their best effort that I can see is awarding faction to the losing team as well... but that could perhaps decrease leavers (even though it doesnt) and increase AFKers. I honestly hope it doesnt get to the point when faction bots come along and squat in Aspenwood and Jade Quarry.
Anyway, whenever im in one of those missions, I start of by saying, "Death to Kurzichs!!" followed by /roar. I do it because it is fun and amplifies the hatred one side has for the other. Of course i'll still play for the other team if I get bored with one side. I never leave unless... ahhh what the hell???

maybe someone got ticked off on the kurzicks side cause that happens a hell of a lot more there than the luxon side. its a crock of dung when ppl do it. i did about 30 missions in a row on kurzicks side and everyone one had atleast 1 AFKer and or quitter. im not condoning it. but it swings both sides and it really does need fixed.
Ken Dei
People take it more seriously now. I personally really do hate most Kurzicks. I didn't used to, and my taunts used to be all in fun. But that all changed after going to House Zu Heltzer and finding out they don't look down on all the cheaters that go to Luxon sides to quit/go afk. Frankly, in war, there's supposed to be some modicum of begrudging "respect" for the other side. The Kurzicks trashed that in no time by using as many dirty tricks and nasty insults as they could.
Now I see them all as what come out the back end of our turtles.

AFKers need to be detectable... if you don't move beyond the spawning area in a game or use at least [n] number of skills/spells/attacks you get no faction. The minimum could be fairly high... after all these do tend to be rather active events.
I'm tempted to consider the option of needing to be allied with one side or the other to do Aspenwood/Jade Quarry. But this could open a new can of worms when someone decides to change sides.

How about a GM?
1 day a week for a period of 1-2 hours, a moderater secretly monitors Aspenwood and just freakin' bans fools who are violating the EULA?
Fixes are all well and good but there comes a time where 1 good cop is more effective than all the video survailance in the world. Seems to me like Aspenwood needs a cop. After people get used to the idea of possibly being banned on the spot, I would wager these instances would decrease in popularity to a fraction of what they are now.
Do the math....an unknown number of hours of the team brainstorming and programming a system which may or may not work or pay some dude $10-15/hour for 2-4 hours a week to ban dorks who are obviously only in there to grief.
Half-ass anti-griefer system or living, breathing, thinking, ban stick? Seems like a no-brainer to me.....

It's childish, you get kind of sick of the comments people make when they chase down your character, kill your charrie, or you, kill theirs. Even loading into the map, and having not even started the timer yet, it's nothing but flames. I've just started turning off local chat and trade chat during these 12v12, least I don't have to watch the little kids have their temper tantrums anymore.

I love these missions, and I know alot ppl who like it to.
I understand that you don't like this situation, but I just don't let it get me, start a new game take some screenshots, report those ppl and start over.
I am sure A.net does alot against these ppl

Just remove faction rewards for the losing side and/or add faction penalties for quitters. Yes, I know the standard counterarguments for these. They have never been convincing.

We fight. Its a close match. You win by a smidgen. I get nothing?
Even a losing team in Random Arena get faction per kill.
Unacceptable.
Quitter penalties = YES PLEASE!

NOBODY.
Either that they will still keep playing, but upon entering the game they just take a quick glance at the party list, go "WTF YOU NOOBS NO MONK NO MM GL GUYS CYA" and starts to AFK cos it is.. simply put, not even worth the electricity you are using to power on your PC during that time.
Hell I'd rather just go 55 in the Echovad forest, more money for my time, and buy the Amber outright. Who needs to do these stupid BS PvP missions anyway.

its actually quite funny. We Typically MMORPGers or in this case COMRPGers; "see I am finally willing to acknowledged that lol" ; Are just this side of being addicted to a game world over their own... I'm boarder-line. But now that summer is here I have alto going on in real life to pull me away from the game, that is why I went so Gun-Ho on it right when factions came out...
Ther was an interesting artical written many years ago in Massive Online Gaming Magazine "Why MOGers Love to Hate their Games" the folks ther were talking to is from the Themis Group. Basically a Online Corporate think tank for MMO style marketing strategies...
The Analogy they used was really really good. and the best I have ever seen to relate to the phenomena...
Basically its this...
well its the same thing with fans of MMO games. The obsession is intense.. And if there is a call that significantly effects the game as a whole its normally badly received... Alla Nerfage...
I'll save a spot to upload a Screen of the Old article. its a good short read... But you get the jest of it with this post...

Unfortunately for the sanity of people, they have to remember that this is a game of a war, not a war. Not all's fair in a game, so have some respect for other players.
