Trouble: Using the Deadly Arts

I was using Assassin's Promise and trying to make a build yesterday, but I could not get anywhere near the efficieny i had with the usually AoD GPS-HoO-FS-TF with critical defenses and other defensive skills. Has anyone else ran into this problem or does anyone have a build or solution? I just want to see a way that the deadly arts can compete with all the others.

Iron Palm + Entangling asp are good combos.

I use Dark prison if you expect your target to run.

The 3 second duration of enduring toxin will force runners to stop.

Expose defenses is spammable, but not energy efficient.

Mark of death works well for an A/R with Predatory Season.

Shameful fear sucks...

Dancing daggers is more defensive, use this as your distanced lead attack and then move in... it's low energy leaves room for your higher energy combo's

and Mantis touch is a quick, unavoidable setup for your dual attack. I dont know why its called mantis touch when you can use it at range.

IMO, the deadly arts line have backup skills to save you from chasing your target. Its good if you want to take out targets even more quickly at the cost of your own defense.

Thank you . I think I've seen you on the mesmer forums as one of the more respectable posters. Could you tell me the elite that runs best with this skill set( im thinking AP and or AoD). I see potential in AP and I'm just having trouble utilizing it. Could you post your current build if you don't mind . I just wanna have something to start with, I cannot seem to get a good build going yet(with deadly arts).

There are some good builds in the Builds directory submissions thread that is stickied in this area of the forum. Mine is one there, that is a smiter assassin, but it doesn't use any of the assassin's elite skills.

I think there are a couple of ones in there that use the deadly arts line.... not sure.

AP. Now when you cast that, if the target is experienced, that person will run around like crazy. If you have a hex on you that says "You're gonna die" its a good scare tactic IMO^^. Other than that, AP is useful when you want the energy to immediately take out another target.

Yea I saw your build, and I liked the creativity. I'm trying to find a great assassin build that doesn't use AoD. Assassin's Promise has promise in that (bad pun I know). Seeing as it recharges all your skills it could be very powerful. I see Black Lotus Strike and GPS as brothers, both off-hands that require no lead, and one requires and enchantment and the other a hex. So then I thought, maybe if you combined criticals and deadly arts I may discover a new powerful build. Then I tried this sort of build in FA and it was hard because I was so used to AoD. I kept dieing and switched back but I'm going to be trying again later .
