The skill description of riposte and variants reads as follows:
for 8 sec, while wielding a sword, you block the next melee attack against you, and your attacker takes .. dmg.
But it came to my attention that block-ignoring skills like warriors cunning are not able to pass through that block (thus recieving dmg from riposte).
Now, is this some sort of bug, is this meant to be, or should the skill description be changed so the term "block" is no longer in it?
skills working like this:
riposte
deadly riposte
auspicious parry(not sure)
shield bash (not sure)
there might be others
Riposte, deadly riposte and probably auspicous parry bugged (?)

Not bugged, Riposte and Deadly riposte only work if you successfully block the melee attack. Warriors cunning will go through those and will not recieve the dmg from the Ripostes.

The ripostes work as intended:
Quote:

The damage is dealt regardless, blocking is not required for the damage to be activated. It doesn't have the "If an attack is blocked in this way, the attacker takes" it just has "Block the next attack and the attacker takes x damage".Quote:
Cast Rigor Mortis on a Bladed Aatxe in the Underworld and attack it. You'll find that its ripostes (at least the last time I checked) will damage you but the attacks will hit.

sounds out of wack, even if its working as it is intended by the means of its vague description.. when i read it, i get the impression that it actually means, block the next attack so that the attack can take the dmg.
if i didn't block the attack why use riposte, use a "Deal 70+ dmg to target for free while foe is attacking" seems a bit too good, no? (cause i never knew that it does the dmg even if it doesn't block)

Attacks like Swift chop and Seeking blade will hit the mark but you will take the riposte damage. Similar with Glads D.

Same goes for using IW on Ripostes too. You don't even get the 'blocked' message but you still take the damage. Just use the 55 IW mesmer if you don't believe me
