Suggestion: Auto-Away and/or Idle message
Tarun
We all know our favorite messengers (AIM, WLM, Yahoo) have it so that if the mouse is not moved, or no keys are pressed on the keyboard that after X (usually user set, from 1-10 minutes default) you are automatically switched to Away or Idle (Idle being most commonly used).
So this suggestion is for the same basic thing. If no keys are pressed and the mouse is not moved for 1 minute or 10 minutes (User set any amount), then your status is automatically set to Idle.

That would be a very nice thing to add. For those of us who just like to run off from the computer and leave our character sitting there in "online" mode....sometimes you get distracted...ooo was going to get some popcorn, but look at that awesome movie on tv...better sit and watch all two hours of it...

LOL Yeah, ADHD does that sometimes.

Also I think if you are idle for a long time (an hour or so) then the game automatically disconnects you. This would eliminate those lazy people who dont even bother to log out, so it might reduce lag.

Its annoying when you go afk like that, especially when your not expecting to have to. Then you come back, with several conversations started, or more often than not someone asking you to do something that you'll never do because you didn't know about it. xD

Just make it so that it also triggers when you do move the mouse/press keys, but Guildwars is not the active window. Often I find myself browsing Guildwiki a little longer than intended, with Guildwars minimized...

It's funny when you are sitting in town and a guy walks up and starts hitting on you. You of course don't say a word being afk and he starts swearing at you for giving him the cold sholder and not even giving him a chance. then you come back and see the hissy fit lol.... ok, maybe this only happens to the girls. Sure has happened to me many times.

In other words, I go afk for an hour to do chores or whatever. Before going afk, I usually zone to the guild hall where there will eb no pointless chatter and so forth. During this time I just walk away from the computer because I'm too lazy to press N and set a mode. After I've finished whatever I come back and read over guild chat or check for any PMs (Whispers) I may have gotten.
I only close GW for updates, pc maintenace or shutting down/rebooting.

You leave Guild Wars on just so you can read people's pointless chatter? I can barely see a difference in leaving the game on and logging out. You obviously cant help anyone when youre afk, so whats the point?
I still stand by my opinion. People who are idle for hours should be automatically disconnected. I think most people would prefer less lag over getting to read pointless chatter.
Tarun
Ever heard of getting items, planning things out and tons of other things? We tend to think things out, not rush out like noobs. Thinking really helps with a lot of things. You should try it some time. :P Plus, if you read, I said one hour. Not three. There's no pointless chatter either, everything I've ever seen is helpful and meaningful in Guild chat.

Bump!
I wanted to suggest this idea. Almost like an away message for Guild wars.
"Hey guys im afk for a little bit, be back in about 30 min."
Little quick short messages like that. No sentences longer then 30 characters. Something along those lines.

Sad to see this still hasn't been added. At least WoW has it

/signed, I'd like to be able to tell why I'm AFK or just have it go idle after a time so people don't think I'm playing when I just had to leave unexpectedly.

And possibly automatic sit down (if an emote (like dancing, or rps) isn't active) while player isn't active in outposts.

When whispered, an AFK character could automatically respond with with party panel text line.
Payers could set that line by inputing:
/afk Text
/afk BRB in 10 minutes

This really needs to be added into the game. It's nothing that would cause any imbalance or break anything game-wise.
