Anyone notice how similar the Morrowind theme is to the GW theme?

Actually, listening to the Oblivion soundtrack, the first one is reminiscent of Pirates of the Carribbean

Are you referring to the dwemer or deep elves? Doesn't sound like deldrimor to me.

Ever notice how the Guild Wars theme and the Oblivion theme were DONE BY THE SAME GUY!?!?!?

OMFG LEETHAX what a coincidence that they sound similar.

Yeah jeremy uses pretty much the same style for all the games he does, and I love his music. My favorite is the Temple of Tolerance theme (the one you hear in lions arch)

There both done by Yuki KAJIURA. BTW I love her music but she has a very distinct style unique to her so I know why it's easy to pick out her work. I don't think it's lazy at all.

Her music also in Madlax, My Hime, and many other - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...le.php?id=3914

Also if you listen to his music for Prey (avaible via DirectSong) for the up coming game, it has more of an native american theme w/ his style... since Prey also has a native american theme with a sci-fi setting.

While the music has always seemed nice on its own in GW, to me it never seems to match the gameplay. I would really like it if, for example, during combat, especially with bosses, we had a fast paced orchestral piece, preferably with a chorus chanting wildly as the chaos of battle ensues. Or if each unique geographic area had a more vibrant selection of beats and rythyms (Maguuma jungle, for example, sounds little different from Ascalon stylisticly, even though one would expect lots of rolling drum beats in one and essentially a dirge in the other).

Currently the best music in the game is in SF, iirc, lots of forboding music, with sudden twists of whimsy in it, nicely matching the surrounding area and the quests which occur within. I really do wish the music was more varied overall though.

Actually, much of the Prophecies music reminds me of Monster Hunter (PS2/Capcom).

Monster Hunter ftl I liked the show but the games = horrible

Anywho, yeah, both sets of music are made by the same artist, so obviously it'll sound the same. It would just be odd, if not completely mind shattering and disturbing, if slipknot started singing a love song wouldnt it, or if John Denver ever had a heavy metal album...?

I think Soule is a great composer, however I've always said that his stuff all sounds the same. As soon as I start up a game, I can tell immediately if Soule did its music. Morrowind, Oblivion, Dawn of War, GW, it's all the same set of instruments and very similar scores.

But don't get me wrong, the music is very well done.

I do think that GW's music is great for peaceful villages but not really fitting for combat. It didn't take long for me to turn off GW's music and run my own playlist while playing. (I strongly suggest the E.S. Posthumus album Unearthed, it's awesome for intense things like GvG!)

I think Soule's best work was the Knight of the Old Republic soundtrack. The music isn't instantly recognizable as his, and it's a lot more upbeat and dramatic than his usual stuff. He did an amazing job of making original music that sounded like Star Wars without being a rip off of it.
