Suggestion: Option to disable henchman talk
Tarun
The way the henchman ramble on can get quite annoying. And when they talk during battle it gets just as bad. It can often be a bit difficult to tell if it's a hench of a player in your group saying something. I've heard many complain about this new "feature" in game. So this is a suggestion to toggle hench talk off.

I really like the chatter the henchmen use now. But if it is toggled for personal preference:

This was ok like the first time you saw it but it gets annoying real fast. There is nothing like having Lucas in your party and in the middle of a fight he pops up a friken novel about how good he is right in the middle of your view.

I found that the Tyrian Henchies (Eve, Cynn, so on) have more interesting things to say then the canthan ones

Henchies were annoying enough without talking, and I've seen them say some things that in real life they'd be beaten up for. lol

i agree with the speech toggle, and when u toggle it off put all the henches in ball gags.

I wish they'd also shut them up altogether, more specifically Talon Silverwing. That was a thread in itself a while back but he still pisses me off with those annoying bird sounds, especially on long stretches of empty ground when every 2 secs he'd grunt as if he was exhausted. You'd think that Tengu were more fit than that .

It's interesting the first time but eventually it just turns into a giant box that gets in your way.

Rather than this, I'd like an option to make that lines appear ALSO in the chat window. I miss many of them because they speak out of screen and the text balloon disappears too soon.
Two new chackboxes lines under the 'damage text' options should be enough, shouldn't them?
One to show them as boxes and one to show tham as line.
Uncheck them both an no lines would appear.

I was just wishing for the option to disable talking henchmen yesterday, because a couple of them simultaneously popped up some huge dialogue bubbles in a fight and obscured my view of the enemies. Lame. Either that or make henchmen shut up while fighting or be limited to one-liners when fighting.
Gorebrex
One liners! Yeah! Like, Eve could say, "Always bet on black!" Or Stephan could say, "Asta la vista, baby!" One liners would be great!

I would still keep them on however, just give the option for people who find it annoying, personally I love it when my monk hench yells out
"there healer is a sissy...A SISSY"

Read this:
* "Come over here and try that again!"
* "Don't think about your wound. That's my job! Think about your enemy!"
* "Get that guy over there! You know we can take him!"
* "Just keep fighting! You'll be fine. Trust me!"
* "Just slap a bandage on that. You'll be fine."
* "Let me at them! I'll give them something to heal!"
* "Let's bust out and crack some heads!"
* "Nobody busts up my friends and leaves them bleeding."
* "Oh, no, you didn't!"
* "Their healer's a sissy! You hear me? SISSY!"
* "Watch your backside, or you'll get spanked!"
* "What do you think this is? Playtime?
* "You wanna fight or dance? Make up your mind!"
I don't remember wich one, but I once saw a line from a monk saying like
"Do that again and I'll tun smitting"
And you want to remove them...

While we are at it toggle the random emotes henchies do.
Kind of annoying when the master of whispers starts rocking the air guitar during a cutscene where I'm trying to get some good screens. :P

It progresses the story line and is a way of mergin cut scenes. Would you rather watch a cutscene that your eventially gonna skip or do you wanna play the game and just ignore and deal with the minor problem that this is. thats my two cents

khim's quotes are the only reason i take her over mhenlo . if people feel the need to disable them, might as well let them, though i love some of the quotes the henches say, i would bring some up, but there was already a thread on that a while ago.

I find many of the henchmen's quotes are quite annoying, although it made me LAUGH OUT LOUD when I heard...I believe it wasKai Ying...anyhow, he said something like:
"How many Am Fah does it take to fix a wagon? Ten! Nine to steal the parts, and one to fix the wagon!"
xD among other humerous quotes I would like to see often
/signed if it could be disabled for each individual henchman

You have your right to turn them off, but I won't be doing it.
I wish we PCs could come up with one-liners that randomly pop up in battle. It would be great fun for RP gamers.

I'll /sign this because someone else who was farther in NF than I was caused a little bit of the game to be spoiled as they chattered on about Nightfall and Tahlkora's identity and such.
It's not a big deal, but if I could turn off hench/hero chatter, I probably would. At least when new expansions and such come out.

I wouldn't really care whether or not this was implemented, since I wouldn't use it but choice is always good. However, I don't think any of you have really thought about the technical side. I don't think this would actually be possible, since the henchmen speech shows up for everybody, and not just an individual person. It's not a part of the client interface, rather it is server side (I'm assuming). For instance, if you hide the interface on your computer, the speech will still display on screen. So getting it to display or hide, depending on each individual person's preference, would be quite a task.
Personally, I don't really see why it bothers everyone so much. Admittedly, I haven't played on lower resolution for a long time, and it never obstructs my view, so I don't know whether that could be the cause of your annoyance. And how much of the time do you actually need to be able to see an enemy? Most of the time, I'm looking at the skills they are using, and not the enemy itself.

Before you see the hench talk, you may lose a lot of those texts.
Once you have seen then once, you rarely want to see them again.
Because of that, I think that all NPC chatter should ahve its onw filter.
So if you want to listen to Danika's, Rurik's, Kormir's or henchmen and hero chat, you toggle the chat fiter on, and all of them appear in the chat panel along the screen bubbles.
You switch the chat filter off, and you never see NPC chatter.
That would be perfect for both that want and do not want to listen to those.

I love the talking the henchmen do, I find it very humorous. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a toggle option to set it off.
