Best Coolest most Surprising Successes
Quajai
I’m looking to hear about the most surprising or coolest successes you’ve had in the game.
One of mine was at Hell’s Precipice in a PUG. I was trying to finish the game with my monk. We had 8 starting but before we even got to the portals we were down to only 5 players. Things were already looking bleak and some suggested we start over but we decided to push on. We took our time and made it through the portal area and then another person left after they capped so we were down to only 4. Two of the players had already done the mission but me and the other said we still needed to finish. The remaining players were really cool and we decided to give it a shot. We had 2 monks a warrior and a ranger. I was pretty skeptical but we pushed on taking our time. I was mostly healing and luckily had a few smiting skills. It was awesome to actually beat the mission with 5 and 4 players.
Another one when I was playing my first character through the game my Ranger/Monk. We were at Elona Reach and we couldn’t get any monks for the group. The group leader said we should try it without monks anyway. I had already tried and failed the mission a hand full of times so the idea didn’t sound like a good one to me. So me and another secondary monk put on some healing skills so we could be the monks. We made through the first part just fine. When we made it near the first crystal we aggroed two groups and I was sure we were dead. To my surprise a few of us went down but we survived and got the first crystal. We continued to battle and got the second crystal and beat the mission. It was very cool. “We don’t need no stinkin monks.”

Sir Skullcrasher
4 wammo plus one monk plus one ele to beat Abaddon Mouth's mission.
Swinging Fists
Expert on Gyala Hatchery with no human monk.
Van Griffin
A while back I did Vizunah Sqaure with only 8 people (The mission normally consists of 16)
Turns out just before the first cutscene, a member on the opposing side left. Unfortunatly, the rest of his team were henchies, so they permanetly died and caused us to trek on with our team of 8. It was really rough at times because, due to us not killing quite fast enough, we seemed to get swarmed with many enemys. Despite that, we continued on and surprisingly beat the mission. Sure, we got the basic completion, but beating a mission designed for 16 people with an 8 person group is a memory i won't soon forget

Unwaking waters with only myself a monk and a warrior alive. Our team died pretty fast and the other was 7 henchies and and one real. But I was able to keep the warrior alive long enough to finish kuuna. It was a joyus moment because I hate that mission and I love master ranks. :]
MSecorsky
Aspenwood, as a Kurzick. Around the 50% point, Green area completely overrun, two turtles moving in. Somehow we kept the NPC's breathing, cleaned out the area and survived. It must have been demoralizing, the Luxons never made it that far again.
Tingi
unwalking waters master reward. Me (luxon) and 7 henchies and another guy (kurzick) with 7 henchies. We pwnd .

Standard impatient don't want to wait in Room 2 team gone so we out a monk, a warrior and an elem - we push on and never in my life have i seen sooo many purples drop....another guy dc's, forget what prof...I think actually a monk but we decide to push on ..... then the Golds start dropping!!! Woot - I called it the "magic number" and man even tho we died in Room 8...we all were excited to have so much great stuff to put in storage Guess you wouldn't technically call it a success but with those kinda drops I felt that way lol.
MasterThrawn
One of the most memorable missions was with my Ranger at Aurora Glade. We lost 2 people that all had to suddenly leave right near the end, so we thought we were in big trouble. Luckily, I had done this before, and brought a few skills to slow down the runners. Using Pin Down and Barbed trap on those runners was so much fun Rest of the group just kept picking off the runners after I crippled them, and the funny thing was we killed all of the Mantle! The poor Demagogue was sitting there all by himself when we killed him.
Recently I got my 80 Amber for my 15K Kurzick Armor which is a big deal for me since I usually don't have more than 20-30K. Got it from pure Faction Farming (and doing all Kurzick quests), so it was quite rewarding - I'm so proud

This was a couple weeks ago back in FoW. We had just made it to the Forgemaster in Fissure. After clearing about half the mobs, half of our team decides to drop. What we are left with is 1 Wammo,2 rangers and me(Monk). I'm running a Bond/Boon build, casting life Barrier and Bond on the remaining 3. Somehow with the degen and limited energy, we managed to kill the remaining Abys, Monks, Mes, Rangers. After that we defended, killed off all of the seeds in the cave and crafted our armor. Best "win" I've had in the game thus far.

Mine was doing unwaking waters with two teams of henchmen with all of us dead except for danika wanding kuunaavang to death and Actually WON!!!!
Cymmina
I also did Vizunah with an 8 person team (1 warrior, 1 mes, 6 henchies) because there weren't enough people in local yet, and they hadn't fixed the hench resing thing.
Arborstone with 2 people + 6 hench... had a bad pull at the very end. Only 1 hench left standing when Danika finally gets her spell off and opens the door.

Same experience as the OP had with Hells. All but 5 of us remained after the bonus and we had no monks. Just me a mesmer, 3 warriors and a necro. Luckily the warriors were wammos and had brought rez which we used a lot. I also passed out free candycanes. We did it and I screen capped it.
Also beat Riverside with 3 people... including the bonus. Two warriors and myself again as the mesmer. That took a while and we were at one time down to one alive.

4 Warriors (most /monk, can't remeber now)
2 Rangers
Lina
Mhenlo
I joined that group because i thought it'd be amusing, damn i was right, we only had 1 death, and that was the monk henches fault for wandering off in a different direction...
Does an All Mesmer group to anywhere count The all mesmer group trip to clear Abaddons Mouth was pretty funny. Bringing Dunham was a great idea since he was such an awesome decoy by the 4th group since he kept dieing. Willia the Unpleasant.... what can i say, 1 mesmer set up properly is bad enough for her health bar. Let alone 7 of whom all had at least 1 interrupt (hell i was the monk/heal party spammer and i still had Power Drain on me).

Killed Glint with a PUG without knowing she was the bonus
We had a Me/W tanking while the others ran around like headless chickens, lol. Luckily we managed to eventually kill that arrogant bitch

I was clearing a few bonuses in the jungle I missed the first time around with my ele. I partied up with a well-rounded group and headed out. We kicked some major butt. Everyone did their job exactly where and when they needed to do it. Good healing, 2 good tanks, and a few backfielders lobbing spells and other nasty stuff killed anything that got in our way. We did 3 missions in a row and only missed 1 bonus. I actually already had the bonus for the second mission, but the first was so fun I just had to stick around.
My most suprising success came with my healer and a party of henchies in Cantha. I'm new there(my healer's an Ascalon char), so I was just wandering around trying to get through the quests. I stumbled on to boss Wing's pack and just engaged when I got hit by lag. about 45 secs later I hear the 10 or so hits I took and fall over dead. Three of the henchies were dead too, but the 4 live ones did a job on the pack. They eventually killed all the pack and then spent 20 minutes killing the boss (the rit healed the war, boss healed himself with signet, rinse, repeat) and I got a green axe for being a spectator. Which reminds me- rits have res, no? It seems that the AI went from one extreme-rezzing anyone covered in monsters-to the other- rezzing after everthing is dead, all living allies have full health, and they've had time for a good pee. Still, that rit made my list for henching parties.

Most recent was beating Arborstone with my sin and 6 henchies...got tired of Devonna (aka Leeroy hench) aggroing too much and well sins still aren't well accepted in groups (especially when i went through).
The other was a bit more interesting. Had tried Thirsty River several times (nearly 10 actually) and just couldn't get it...always died after about the 4th group. Well I wanted to get to Droks and get on with the game (this was with my necro, my first char), so I decided to get a runner. He tries...fails. We give him another shot....at the third area, facing (you guessed it) the 4th group, he has to leave (he was about to fail again). So there goes that try. I got up the next day, frustrated at still being at that mission, went to do it with henchies...and beat it with the bonus on my first try that day. Man that felt good lol.

By the time I even got to the area where Galrath is, both my avatar and the henches had dp, and the party was quickly wiped by the Verata, and after jogging there a couple of times from the spawn-point, the entire team had 60% dp.
Then, after having all the henches killed so I was the last one standing, I put my thinking cap on.
I went back to the valley before Galraths, aggroed all the dozens of minotaurs and trolls, then I trained them at the Verata.
Then I simply hanged back, helping the minotaurs when I could, dropping Backfire or Empathy on the Verata.
And it worked!
The minotaurs killed most of the Verata, I could sneak past - and of course killing Galrath himself is easy, much easier than killing the Verata. Quest accomplished!

Mine would have to be Boreas Seabed. I'm a Mesmer and my brother was running his Wammo. We made it up to the final mission and and dropped a fully charged staff on the Kraken. I picked it back up and we continued to beat on the Kraken. The Kraken spawns kept being raised and the Kraken's AOE were causing heavy damage. We lost a few Henchies and then the Wammo when down. The Kraken turned fully onto me and took me out. We had our Mage Henchman still standing with about 1/4 health.
Apparently the deaths of the henchmen helped recharge the spear and the Kraken fell with the Mage Henchman having a sliver of life left. The biggest shock was the end mission screen where we say that we got Master with 17:10.

Getting Master Reward with a PUG and hench on Arborstone, was quite fun.
