Interesting Idea about fast casting attribute line

Now this is out of flavor for the mesmer class; I will say that right off the bat. In fact; I'm not even entirely sure where I am going with this to be honest.

But hear me out.

I think it would be interesting if mesmers had a IAS buff in their FC attribute line. This would make Me/W Me/R and Me/A abit more viable for offensive purposes and would thus allow these class combinations to become more viable. Now I know about 18 billion of you are going to jump out at me screaming about IW; yes it will make it more powerful, and yes this will hurt the synergy between me/w and me/r going solely outside for flurry/tiger's furry.

However; I have always wondered why every time a mesmer is seen on box art or the guildwars website she is always weilding a sword, a fencing sword at that. I know for one this sword does not exist (would be interesting if it did...) but more importantly it can't just be for IW, it seems out of flavor (but then again so does this IAS spell for that reason)

Anyway; this IAS idea...I have no idea what % it would be, cool down, energy cost etc...In fact I don't even know if it should be a stance or not (I personally think it would be interesting if it wasn't a stance)

Yet as all of you know me of being this super up-tight guy who hates diversion, loves powerblock, thought I would just through this out there. Play out a la la topic for a change. This of course would prove as a buff to the mesmer primary (and we all know it needs it...)

As said just throwing ideas out there; yay or neigh or so to say.

None, free and clear

*puts this in the Eamirth coo-coo ideas/convictions folder and shuts the drawer* Keep the creative ideas coming, the best quality diamonds are found in the dirt. (I am not being ironic or sarcastic)

I believe FC is fine. Me/A is already perfectly viable. Me/R is just not a good combo; R is rarely a good secondary for caster classes.

Supposadly a Ritualist can 'master a dozen flesh eating minions' (ie. Rit/N Minion Master). Even though the cap is set at 8 minions for anyone but a necro.

I'm really not sure where your going with this either tbh. I think a fast cast Order Necro is bad enough, but when we start hearing about 'Fast 'casting' adren spikers' i think things are going a bit too far.

Fast Cast adren spike would be hilarious. But it would be near useless because of the IAS cap and flurry/frenzy/other stances

That and mesmers with bows would be semi-humorous. Still carry a cc bow but for a different reason. ^_~

Personally, I'd like to see this. Personally, I don't see it ever happening. It is a nice idea to dream about though. Hopefully there'd be a way to keep it balanced and make it happen.

To me, the Elementalist has a good primary attribute, since *anybody* can benefit from having high energy. Only an attacker can benefit from Strength or Critical Strikes, and only a spellcaster can benefit from Fast Casting.

Instead of having specific primary attributes, why not make it a bit more general? Expertise cannot decrease the energy of Spells so you don't want a Ranger to be a nuker. At least the Elementalist has a primary attribute than anybody can benefit from.

Heres ideas for primary attributes that would seem more general, and EVERY character can benefit from it, regardless of profession:

Hex Resistance: For every point spent in this attribute, the duration of all hexes cast on you are decresed by 4%. (This means that Backfire will last for 6 seconds if you have 9 points here.)

Fast Memory: For every point spent in this attribute, all of your skills (not just spells) take 3% shorter time to recharge. (This means Conjure Phantasm will only take 7 seconds to recharge instead of 10, if you have 9 points in this attribute)

Of course, those are just silly examples off the top of my head. But the good thing about these attributes is that *anybody* can benefit from them. My Mesmer/Warrior build posted on this forum does not recieve much help from FC, and any general attribute will work better.

Talk about broken primarys ^_^:; but then again by looking at expertise and divine favor I wouldn't be so sure...
