Assassins are kinda stuck in a neverending circle...

You need to get to the later missions for skills that make you a good assassin,
but to get there you have to do the earlyer missions.
But offcourse no one wants to take the assassins because they die quick and are "noob".
And offcourse to be effective you still need to win those henchunfriendly missions..
I'm not saying it's impossible but it's still close to it.

So my point is, to be good you need to get to the later towns and missions, but to get there you need to go trough the other missions. But no one takes assassins We are just stuck in an eternal circle....

i think they made it just to say :"look! we made 2 new classes! arent we nice?!"

seriously, what were they planing it to become?

high damage = ele(air spiker), warior, etc
tank = warior
distance damg = pretty much every1 exept wariors
anti casters = pretty much every1, especialy mesmres and necros
anti wariors = Oh C'mon! oviously not the assassins!a soon as he hits space bar... X_x

Welcome to the mesmer and ranger life when prophecies was released. Ok.. so I dunno about when it was released, but.. both rangers and mesmers had hell trying to get into groups for a long time in prophecies, and both professions have the problem that the good skills are not available until late in the game.

Incidently, seeing as you can buy skills in cantha, no assassin should need to complain about good skills not being around till later on in the game... you can only have 1 elite in your build, and you should be able to run your build without elites.. just my opinion.

What did they do to AOD? I don't use it as my elite but would like to know.

Nothing yet, recharge is increasing by 5 seconds, and shadow stepping in general has been reduced to a max distance of the radius of your radar, which IMO, IS NOT A PROBLEM

Actually, I find my mesmer having just as much trouble getting into groups.

Many, many times, I've advertised for a mesmer without any luck at all. And I'm more than happy to have 1 assassin in our group, not sure about 2.. I don't know the assassin skills well enough to know if it's worth two spots on the team or not.

I think the assassin problem will get better as time goes on and we (the rest of us who don't play assassins) realise how valuable assassins really are and those who play them realise how to best play them... and once monks realise that assassins are valuable members of the team and they need healing as much as everyone else.

That might have been when Prophecies came out but not anymore.
I'm sure that same will happen to assassins.

AoD may have been nerfed but if you think about it, the other teleport/defensive skills have gained...the random teleport skills, as long as you're not that close to a second mob, give less of a chance that the assassin will end up aggroing more enemies, but will still get away from harm. Also, I use one elite more than any other, Palm Strike, which can be capped before the third mission, and the rest are all skills that i was able to get by Kaineng Center, and I'm doing just fine, especially with high damage dealing and good use of my secondary (which is currently ranger....apply poison with a lead attack that causes bleeding ftw).

Assassins can still be useful before later game skills, it just requires more thinking and more practice, which hopefully will weed out a lot of the bad assassin players OR help them become better players by later stages in the game and making them that much more useful to their team...especially as more and better builds are discovered and worked out.

You blame ANET for assassins not getting groups? Its you whiney forum cry-babies that snivle about every little thing: "OMG TEH ASSASSIN CANT TANK! MONKING NIGHTMARE! HOLD THE PRESSES!"

And, oh my lord, they added a 5 second extra recharge to a very overused skill. What are we ever going to do?

Every monk I've ever seen about an Assassin being in a party has died several times when I haven't at all. So, you can have your idiots that don't know how to play. I'll stick to guildy groups.

The Assassin is a very fun and effective class. If you don't think both of those things are true, you have no idea what you are doing. And that's the whole thing: Just like the Mesmer problem, people don't take them becuase they have -no clue- what they do.

No no, you see, people know what assassins do, just like people know what mesmers do. Its just that, for most things, that group slot is better filled by someone who isn't an assassin. There just isn't anything the assassin has to offer to a group that another class can't do better or more efficiently or with more versatility. I am, of course, speaking strictly about PVE. PVP is a different animal.

Assassins may end up finding their own little niche one day, but chances are good they will end up just like the mesmer, as a class who gets picked only because no one else is around.
