Ecto price going to keep rising?

ive been watching the the ecto prices lately and i was wondering if its going to go any higher. to about 14k like old days

I hope they don't go higher, but for the time being most likely they will.
My best guess is due to supply and demand. Less people are farming ToPK and UW for Ectos, plus everyone likes the look of the new Factions armors over FoW. Then there was the bug a few days ago which slowed down Ecto supplies.
So many factors.

Sorry yes that's what i ment was there is only one set of fow armor, meaning that you use ecto's only for armor in FOW i know where it drops

I think once everyone realized that rubys and sapps. were well..usless....AS USUAL they were like OH SNAP TIME TO GO GET FOW!! and more n more ppl got it increasing price XD

don t know if it s relavent or not but 1 of anets updates said fixed a bug that was not allowing ecto and shards to drop. this might have caused the spike in ecto going up as that now people would be more inclined to keep it then sell to the merc.

I believe that some of the ecto price boosting may be due to the fact that players are now using them as currency even if they dont want them for crafting, it makes them like our banknotes (or 'bills' to non uk-ers) in that they can be readily exchanged for goods that you do actually want because they hold their value well and can be readily converted into real wealth (in so much that GW gold can be called real wealth anyway lol but you know what I mean)

WTF!? Things in the Maguuma Jungle drop ectos??? I knew the Banshees in FoW can drop em (only seen it once though) but never things in the jungle...
Yeah that bug was annoying, i'd say ectos are gonna stay steady though, then go back down again till people stop farming again. It'll be a sort of cycle, 55farmers holding onto there stash till they go back up then flogging em all, they go down and repeat.
They might go up randomly if plenty of people decide to get the Assassin/Ritualist FoWs... but i think i'll keep on going for my Mesmers. As soon as i can be bothered to buy 40 ectos

Bah, should have stocked up when trader was selling em for ~5K. Now they are back up to 8K -_-

There are so many factors involved...
- Droprate looked like it was "nerfed" and people bought ecto from merch.
- The hardcore players all finished factions, did the elite mission and came back to fow/uw. They didn't need ecto or shards at all because they were doing quests and missions and now they move back into the business. Factions was vacation for them.
- The amount of ecto in player's hands is decreasing as more and more people buy the new assassin and ritualist fow armours. Less ecto in circulation means higher price I guess.
- The ebayers finished factions and are buying ecto straight off the merchant.
Prices are going up and down like crazy. One second it's 9k, the other it's down to 6. Same with amber, One second it's 1.9k then 5 mins later it's up to 2.5
Imo, the merchants need a larger stock because the way it looks, 1 player seems to have the ability to change prices drastically.

The price to buy/sell Ectos at a merchant may go up, but it doesn't mean it will be worth that much to gamers. If it goes up to 10k, I'm sure people just won't pay that much for one from the merchant or other gamers. Just like in the House of Hetlzer, Amber used to be 3k each(i made a killing off it 
). Then people just refused to buy it for that much and finally the sellers sold them for less and less.

smart. i usually do that too if the prices are super high, hey i can wait, why waste money? The prices change about every 5 mins. For example the monk runes - they went to an all time high - but then 1 week later bam back to decent normal prices. Basicaly supply and demand. Nothing more to it then that..
And btw need they add the running out of stcok for merch to prevent people from always buying form the merchent? or just to make it realer

ah well, my opinion:
factions .. brought some new greens and so on, some rlly good items ( zodiac stuff )
but:
1. elite missions .. well, the chance to get a dropping zodiac is 1/12th ( 12 party members ), so its rather small. why do it then, better farm other places and buy a zodiac thing later from another one or wait until they have become chaeaper.
2. new greens .. factions has been farmed to the end imho ^^ there are only few greens left that rlly still sell for good prices, the rest is being farmed by too many, letting the price drop and by that not making it worth any longer to farm there.
-> ppl return to prophecies for fow and uw, fater all, there is only 1 fow and uw.
in the course of the game, more and more ppl have become richer, it's like in real life, if you have a lot of money, well, what does one do ? buy a cool car, buy a boat :P, buy whatever.
its the same with fow armor, it hasnt gooten anything else then a droknar armor, but it does look cool, or even if it is simply the best armor available, why not show off a bit and get it ? after all, one thinks he is a pro, so one needs pro things ^^.

they do drop from the jungle, and even though i farmed there it is
1. very hard
2. you get more glittering dust than in 10 uw runs :P

maybe thats just me, but uw is still the place where your chance to an ecto is highest

I think Anet should cap lowest price of ecto to 8k and 3.5 for shard, so it can't go below that. Ecto became some kind of money. (100k+50ecto i.e.)
And now is fine, but if ecto drops to 1k or smnt in few years... market will be devastated etc. just like in d2. :>

Only ecto falls that occur are those when new items are introduced, so some weirdos hurry to buy them and sell ectos to merchant... Oh boy, I remember a fall when tombs greens were introduced... now majority of it you can buy for few plat. ^^
I think Anet should cap lowest price of ecto to 8k and 3.5 for shard, so it can't go below that. Ecto became some kind of money. (100k+50ecto i.e.)

I wish A.nerf can just make a weapons crafter NPC that offers every skin available in the game (similar to the existing crafters right now that sell blue 15^50 weapons, however, my idea would implement every available skin in the game) This way, people wouldn't HAVE to pay over 100k for an item and I have a gut feeling that a.nerf didn't intend for players to pay over 100k for items.

price rises.
people no longer buy in towns from other players due to high price and would rather wait a day or so till cheaper.
people sell to trader as price is high and noone is buying.
