Greetings,

As we all know, the last build has given us the opportunity to see what the other 8 players on our AB Team are saying. The facets of communication greatly improve combat efficiency, but only when used properly.

"Define Properly"

Here are some basic guidelines:

-Try and refrain from personal chatter during combat, during the timer is fine of course. Though some people might be trying to plan ahead.

-If you're pinging a target please do so 2 times, and wait a short time before pinging again 3-4 seconds. Do not ping flood the chat.

-If you a straggler, don't be afraid to ask for the posts which are currently under your control so you can make your way there.

-If you are attacking or defending, notify the team if a post is changing hands. i.e. " We've lost the warrior shrine" or "We're taking the warrior shrine now.

-Notify the group of any enemy cap teams moving towards the back.

-Try and State the "roster"of your squad at the beginning of the match so people now what they have to work with. i.e. "Left squad has 2 W/Mo, 1 A/Mo and a Mo/Me."

-Don't be afraid to ask for help. i.e.

"Are there any of ours with enchant stripping near "insert location""
"I can."
"I need the enchants stripped off the following tank"
::Ping target::
"Ok"

Generals

"Generals" are players that take it upon themselves to try and guide the team as a whole towards victory through various orders. Usually the orders are to the effect of.

-Who's going where?
-Try and do this.
-"Insert Post" is falling/fallen, being taken, under attack.
-Enemy cap team moving to our rear, someone cover it.
-Persons at "insert location" fall back, push forward, hold the post, keep the enemy busy.
-"insert post/side of the map" is undefended.
-We need "insert class/type of player" at "insert location"
-Pressure the "insert class/type of player", usually monks, MMS and the like.
-Stop brawling move to cap instead.
-Stragglers regroup at "location", or "location"

Now, "generals" can come off as pushy, and your first impulse might be to ignore them completely. But for the sake of victory, delay that impulse and see if their plan at least makes sense.

If it does, try and follow along for a while, or at least coordinate your movements with the information they are giving. They are trying to help the group coordinate so actually coordinating makes it worthwhile.

However if you know a "general" is just flat wrong, ignore him.

i.e. "We have to kill all the kurzicks to win"
i.e. "Don't fight AT ALL, just run around"
and other similarly stupid orders/tactics.

I know generals who are listened to help alot. I've done some of it myself and when the team followed the plan I was laying out we worked much better and actually made the Kurzicks do what we wanted.

Battlefield Ettiqute/Tactics

Finally, for those new to AB, or who just need a refresher, some simple rules/tactics.

-Use the chat system

-Follow at least your squads instructions

-4-4-4 is not the god of all team layouts, in fact most of the time it sucks.

-Getting seperated from your squad is no longer a SIN. Simply find a rally point and move on with other players best you can.

-Think on your feet.

-1v5+ situations don't make you a hero, they make you dead.

-Don't over extend yourself, sometimes it's better to back up all the way to your post and use the NPCs.

-Waiting a few seconds after rezing in base to get a partner is not a waste of time.

-Watch the post count at all times.
4v3 is ok, you can recover.
5v2 is not good, work harder.
6v1, get your ass in gear, take command of your squad and start trying to coordinate a counter offensive.
7v0, move maggot move! j/k, but seriously, very bad.

-You have not Won or Lost till one of those numbers hits 500, you stay on the battlefield and keep fighting.

That about covers everything, good luck and good fighting.

A+ for effort

Will it happen? I highly doubt it to be honest, since the general GW community is made up of 15 and below yr olds that love to type/spam useless dribble in chat. But then again thats why I don't play alliance battles at all.
