55 monk question

Hey all,
Can a 55 monk be made with a primary profession other than a monk, and just have the monk profession as a secondary? Can it be any primary profession /monk? Or does a 55 monk need to have monk as the primary profession to work?

Also, do I need prophecies to make a 55 monk or can I do it with only factions?

You can make 55 builds with other primaries, but it's not as effective. Also, the off-hand focus item you will need (stress, NEED) to get all the way down to 55 max hp is a Prophecies only item (quest reward for Cities of Ascalon). You can also run the build at 105 hp, but I don't know its effectiveness with other classes.

you can buy the offhand for a few k's

i deleted my monk, and made an ele. now i 55 with my ele and i take down mobs much faster then used to with a monk. spell breaker is replaced with obsidian flesh, rest is about same, exept for more powerful attaks, so im not stuck with 1 mob for 5 min waiting for SOJ to recharge...

I can only join in here, my primary char is an E/Mo and I have an 55hp outfit too for it. I like it more then my monk even for 55hp, but skill are so versatile, I kill certain enemies even faster without going 55hp and in large groups aswell. Obs Flesh is really a fantastic skill, and its part off both campaigns obs flesh rocks.
