Retain Interest in Prophecies Campaign
Samuel Dravis
Personally, I think Factions gameplay sucks. I have Factions, but the only use I've really had for it is the new skills and the ability to play with other people I know that have Factions. Most of my time is spent in Tyria and will continue to be spent in Tyria. I have never bought in to the 'oriental = omgwhoasweet!' and I don't particularly care for that about Factions either. Medieval is more my thing.
Sure, I'd like to have a new quest once in a while in Prophecies. I don't expect massive things like Sorrow's Furnace (which was also incredibly dull, IMO), but just item updates and such would be nice.

I loved Tyria as an environment. I am frustrated with how there is so much left to explore, where as Factions (which I honestly have to say I enjoyed more) was a FINISHED product.
I agree that it would be NICE if Anet came back and visited this landscape again, to add more content to it, however I see no reason why they should do this, outside of adding a campaign to, let's say bring back the druids to the Maguuma.
As a number of people have already pointed out in this thread, we pay for content. You say Prophecies is not finish, Anet disagrees with you. I take the view that it was a slight design flaw on the behalf of Anet, but that doesn't make Anet WRONG. You can't expect something for nothing, you paid for the Prophecies content that currently exists, therefore it only makes sense that if you want new content you will have to pay again.
This game is NOT WoW, as many of you know. We don't pay monthly fees. Anet has set out of create new STANDALONE games, rather than the "expansion packs" which WoW offers. Those of you who don't understand the basic differences between expansion packs and new chapters should note that the fundemental difference is that an expansion pack requires that you own the original game, and (most often) consists ONLY of high level content, so you need to have (practically) finished the game too. Given Anet's position on this matter, I cannot forsee that expansion packs are going to be introduced at anytime in the near future.
Having said all of that of course, you should all note that Anet has been most attentive to the wishes of its fanbase. If enough people say they will pay for expansions, then Anet might decided to do something about it.

Edited the original post to reflect some of the suggestions.
Appears most players would like to return to Tyria with either some small additions to content and possibly pay for an expansion to the Prophecies Campaign for some major additions to content.

I have both, but still really love Prophecies. I'd really like to see a story arc back there.

I'm not sure why A-NET would want to spent time and effort working with tyria for people that aren't putting money back into the game. Personally, I like tyria as a place i can go back to and do stuff with the new classes and selling the new items over there. Yeah it would be great if A-NET would continue improvements to Tyria along with the latter releases of the new chapters, but the dev time needed to enforce those changes just doesn't justify the dollars that are now being used to maintain tyria after the player base has moved on as well.
it's nice to have goals, those that haven't bought factions due to time or money restraints have the goal of getting around to trying out factions. Sounds like a win/win to me.

On the map of Tyria there are ALOT of open spaces.... huge open spaces that are locked. Tyria can use alot more improvement. A way to do this and solve the financial problem would be to have new expansions add material to Tyria. For example a new expansion would open a new set of ruins west of amnoon oasis and tie it the to new story the way lions arch was tied to cantha. See easy!

Edited the original post to add a possible explorable area north of Maguuma. And a Maguuma Druid quest/storyline.

Actually, Galie has pretty much said that no new content will be added to Prophecies. For Anet, it would be a money pit. They need for people to move on to make money. Do I want them to add new content? You bet! I still love Prophecies more than Factions and nothing would make me happier than to see new stuff there. Do I think they will? I highly doubt it.

is that clear enough for you?
also not a single promise has been broken as no date was given for any of those.
summer for slots has months to go
auction house/improved trading system (remember that an auction house was not promised but improved trading). was a future item
you want it yesterday and if you dont have it now it is a broken promise.

Since they have "Core" skills, what if they made "Core" types of mods for armour and weapons.
Then had special mods within the campaigns that would greatly throw the balance of the game off.
Example:
Factions introduced, and maybe should be restricted to that campaign, the Health Mod for armour.
Maybe Prophecies could have the Enery Mod to a certain set of armour increased that could be unique to Tyria.

If you want new content then buy Factions and future chapters. Games arent made to last forever. You gotta move on.

I think ANet announced that they would not be implementing extra stuff as large scale as SF in any more chapters and would be primarily focusing on developing new chapters.
Hrm, Prophecies still holds most of the money skills for the core 6 professions, which is reason enough.

Keep up the interest in all of the current and future campaigns will result in increased sales as word of mouth within the game circulates.
Maybe they could include specific skins and/or mods that are only obtainable from certain campaigns.

I want to hear a suggestion that would get me (as well as those who left) back into the game. Faction almost did, expect for its price. Thought still installed, just lost interest in playing, due to various reasons (biggest would have to lack of goal) So I would say that if dev can add new content to get the people who left back to the game, than it would be good update.

Perfect example:
Dragon Festival. Canthan only event.
Granted it would be a little difficult to adapt this event to Tyria - but there should be some sort of event this summer for characters in Tyria if they do not have some method for Prophecies only characters able to participate.
Try to bring some of those amazing players back to the game that haven't moved on to Factions.

It would be fair since they made the Dragon Festival a Canthan event, that they make Halloween a Tyrian only event. But have a little difference with the Quests and rewards for the Halloween event.
This might encourage some of the players who do not have Prophecies go and get it.

I hope they dont put an Auction House in Guild Wars... it will destroy the economy badly.
Look at it this way: Ectos are now 8k each (give or take 500g), because the buyers will only pay that much since the only easy way to get them is to buy them off other players... or farm them (but the only way i see people making a decent amount of ectos is by duo farming / solo farming UW, otherwise the rare drops get even rarer in 8 man parties)
The buyers will only pay what they want to pay, or will tell the seller theyre not buying the ectos for higher than theyre willing to pay.
Now, with an auction house, ecto price will get driven up to extreme prices, since people wanting to sell will set a price of 9k for them... if everyone does this, ecto prices raise a plat... and some people are just too dumb / lazy to go to the npc traders and buy them. Also, some people will want to raise the price of ectos on the auction house to more than the npc trader is selling them for, then buy the trade out, auction them, and make alot of profit on them... again driving up the market price.
This is exactly what happened when i played Final Fantasy 11... and it's possible if an AH is introduced to GW... it could happen here too...
thats my $0.02 on Auction houses..

Well they did add new items from the June 15th update. Shows that they may still have a spark of something to keep the interest in the Prophecies Campaign.
Dougal Kronik
With the added storage that is coming for Factions owners, they could rekindle interest with some players by adding some storage capabilities to Prophecies-only owners.

Prophecies is done, they already did give us some added content and upgrades, we were given Sorrows Furnace for free, and green weapons, and some new monsters. Prophecies had a year to steam before they started the 6 month chapter cycle. Those who havent played Prophecies can always back track and play a previous chapter, those who played Prophecies are intended to buy new chapters instead of staying in tyria with continous, free, upgrades. Your getting free service, youv'e fallen off your stool if you think they are just going to keep adding to the already vast, already expanded, already succeeded chapter.
From a buisiness standpoint, Prophecies is already good enough for any new player to buy, even with all the new chapters, so far it is the only chapter with plenty of lower level missions for players to learn the game and get aquainted to the system, it has a good story, additions, and exclusive skills. Most people who start GW are either going to buy the first or the most recent chapter, if they need to fix (or improve) any chapter, it is Factions, because players are likely to skip over an imbetween chapter which is widely known for being disappointing. I already know some players who simply skipped Factions and figure on trying Nightfall because the reputation is so bad.
I have nothing against them making another chapter which deals with tyria and other parts or other races in tyria, but expecting them to add to a 1 time buy, after they already have......
Anet said they wouldn't, and they are putting their new content into new chapters, not previous ones which are already bought and paid for, as well as complete and functional, with bonus content. They are not just working on nightfall, but brainstorming the 4th chapter, if not already started, and they may already be deciding on what to do for chapter 5, they are not going to make free content for a previous chapter unless it is an overall game addition or reversion of the game as a whole, or unless there is some bug or deficiency which they wish to correct.
Prophecies is obviously more popular, so if anything needs to be improved or fixed, it is Factions. Fixing what isn't broken when you also have another which is due for a tune up is plain retarded, if anything should be fixed it is the lesser chapter, not the greater. Expecially since people will likely forget Factions ever exsisted after Nightfall and the 4th chapter come out, if Anet intends for current and future gamers to get around to buying Factions, they really need to make some improvements, maybe an addition like Sorrows Furnace, and make Assassin worth a crap. Even Ritualist will be pushed aside for Paragons, they certianly arn't buying Factions to access either of these classes as they are now.

Prophecies outclasses Factions with its superior scenery, its size and other things which are actaully debateable (storyline, missions, the happy death of Rurik :P) People should be worried about Factions becoming deserted when Nightfall comes out, Prophecies will be fine...
And besides, Tyria will still have Halloween and Wintersday, it would be rude to hold those events for one time only. (Yes it is speculation that they will hold it again, but there's no reason why they wouldn't)

Well they gave all owners of Guild Wars campaigns access to increased storage. Well done!
Therefore there is the potential for Anet to keep growing in previous campaigns. Not huge expansions (too bad) but some added content. Especially with some of the storylines that have emerged in Factions and Nightfall.

Maybe nothing giant and drastic but a few additions would be nice. Also they did add another armor to the list so we kinda got one.

Since GW:EN is an expansion... Prophecies should get expanded. For real, not add a door to another thing... you can always use new things in old content when it's about expansions, GUI, items, whatever.
Age
What Prophecies need is a big revamp and over haul just the other 2 camps.what this would mean is that pre would be greatly expanded just like Sing Jea and Instani Islands. You will be ascended before or after you reach LA so when you do get to ToA you can go down there. This was fine before the ascention patch but not anymore unless they move the UW and FoW close to the TomPs.I classify ToA as ascention area so why are there no ascended player unlike Faction and Nightfall they are ascended.
It would seem ot me that presearing gets expanded on with the same services as Sing Jea and Istani..These would include rune trader, dye taders, material suppliers and armour crafters. It would be possible to go to your guild hall. You would leave at lvl 17 and then proceed through a few quests and missions before your ascention around LA there would be ne need to do it at Aug Rock and therew would be maxed armour in LA.There would be elites in those quest and missions. The mission towns in the Maguuma Jungle would turn int just out posts not coop mission outposts. There would still be some in Kryta like Sanctum Cay on ward to one that would take you to Dragons Lairs and on to Droks from there on to the Fire Islands. These would be shorter with no elites as you would have them all by now.You will get infused in Ice Caves of Sorrow mission and Iron Mines would just be a town.
There would out posts in The Falls,Dreadnoughts Drift and Mineral Springs and maybe a few more so if you get dced or want to log out you can. This would but Prophecies on par with Factions and Nightfall as a faster track.
I came to this after playing a Ritualsit,Assassin in Faction and a Paragon,Dervish in Nightfall.I always wanted to take on Mesmer tried it a couple of times just couldn't get it but this time I told myself to attack it which I am doing.I am finding it boring doing in Prophecies why there becasue I much like the way core classes look there as well as free skills.I am playing this regularly as possible.I found myself standing in ToA and asked myself what I am doing here as most there say 80% were lvl20s as it is an ascention area.It is time for an over haul and a big revamp.
I just may repost this as separate idea.

Now I wonder, isn't Prophecies long enough already? It takes forever to finish quests and missions, and now you want to add to it? I know that not everyone have money to buy all the campaigns, but in reality it's been 2 years!! Start saving and buy the new stuff!! You are missing out on allot of great and wonderful things!!
Think about this. They created Prophecies it's great and almost all the spells that you need you have to capture there. Factions (for me) have the best armour. Nightfall is the place where you make money. They kind of encourage you to buy all the campaigns. You need Prophecies to get all the skills you want, Factions for Armour and Nightfall to make all the money so you can go do or get all this in the other campaigns.
I think Anet will not change anything now, like adding new content, because they want you to buy all the campaigns. They're a business and have to get money from somewhere to pay for expenses they have. They don't do this for free you know.
