Captain,
Perhaps you would care to send me a detailed PM versus vague and unsupported claims so that I can look into it before exaggerating claims that we are irresponsibly distributing powers. If it's so "wide-spread" I find it appalling that not one single person has brought it to my attention and that you would find the need to write up such an inflammatory post without even trying to see if this is a problem we are aware of. I too prefer dialogue to domination, and yet besides this I've seen not a single post communicating this problem. So please enlighten me to what you are seeing. I have over 6,000 posts a day on this forum and I can not check every Price Check going on, can not read every post. If you report it someone will look into it, so please send me a detailed PM with names, links to these Price Checker's who are "not equipped to use it productively" and more and I will be happy to work with you and look into it.
And I do have to mention that this whole matter is debatable as I can pull up posts after post from other fansites that say our prices are twice to three times what they sell for in game. It's all perspective when you are saying that you double what some price checker's quote.

NOTE: I haven't been screwed over myself because I keep an eye on the kinds of things that I sell. I just see too many people selling too many good items for half (or a third) of the price they should. There are certain "gurus" whose PC's I automatically double (at least). I've had several conversations in-game with people who feel likewise. Some have been so angered by the disservice of "gurus" that they have attempted to ignore them...which, of course, Guru won't let them do.
I think it's irresponsible of the administrators to distribute power to those who are not equipped to use it productively.
At the same time, there are "gurus" who I consider extremely good and trustworthy. I think there should be some kind of review process through which "gurus" are evaluated. I'm not sure how it could work because the PCs that "gurus" give go such a long way towards determining prices in most people's minds. Most people are happy to get what a "guru" says they should get because they think it's the right price because that's what a "guru" said. If "gurus" can't be evaluated, then they should be gotten rid of. I prefer dialogue to domination.

Another common "scam" with the auction system is the sale of "perfect" not max damages weapons. That was particulary true just after the release of factions when people were not used to non max gold weapons, and therefore didn't pay much attention to that. What's the price of 7-17 req8 15^50 oni blades and what's the price of 7-15 req8 oni blades? The same problem occured in Ventari's Sell, but members are able to post messages there, and most of the time there was someone to post the weapon was not max or a bidder retracting and giving the reason. That's something we can't do with the auction system. Now people are more aware, but I remember in the early stage of factions checking pages where half of the weapons were not max, with way too high bids. Being allowed to leave comments would also prevent scams like selling pseudo-nerfed weapons (collector weapons) and the like. The downside is that it would require more moderation to prevent stupid comments like "surrending mods suck noobs" etc. Now concerning the idea of mini-bans or whatever based on wrong PC, I find that kinda tendencious. What would you PC a req8 15^50 shadow bow for? The skin is not a desired skin, but that's a perfect item. Would 30K sound good? That's not a desired skin but it's a hell of a perfect bow. I had one during 2 months I tried to sell it for this price before I give it to a newb. Someone PCing under this price would have been wrong, but you just can't sell it for its price. This is just an example to say how hard having accurate price-checking is. PS: I feel strange to post in this topic without a green title Jetdoc

Absolutely. A price check is simply that - the opinion of the "guru" based on their experience by watching the trade channels, watching the buy/sell forum, and watching the auction site (and other related sites).
You can always buy/sell something for significantly more or less than their price check quotes. But that doesn't mean that they don't provide some sort of mean for the seller to gauge it by. By the way, I use the price check guides very often, primarily as a reference tool for those looking to buy my wares. Selling something for less than the low end of the price check guide is a sure fire way to speed up a transaction. reverse_oreo
the only issue i see with this, is the fact that there are not enough price checkers. I have posted items, bumped them day after day, and not gotten a pc. If you want this to work, implement more price checkers.

This could be an issue. The thing is, if the Price Check Gurus are doing a good job, which they are, then more people will be asking for price checks. So demand increases, and supply remains the same, hence the unchecked items. Also keep in mind that Price Check Gurus are located in different time zones, so it's not always possible to get to posts posted during uncovered times. Also, some items are not very easy to price check, and that is probably why they're left unchecked. Furthermore, some posts have a lot of items, way over the suggested number in the forum guidelines, and some posts are missing needed information. Anyway, if you have concerns about this, you can speak with a Ventari Sell moderator or one of the admins. Hope this helps!

true but difficult, in this area you need quality over quantity just because there is more doesnt mean the PCing will get better

MB you're in there too. And Don't say otherwise. We take more than just trading XP into it when we think about giving someone the title. Otherwise yes, those 7 and you would all have it.

I think you just need to put a big big post saying ONLY HIGH END ITEMS
and explaining that if you aren't sure your item is high-end then go to price check forum and ask for confirmation Moderators should have a blacklist First time someone breaks the rules, moderator delete his post and warn him through private message and/or email and add him to his blacklist Second time that guy in the blacklist breaks the rules moderator BAN the guy from the forums To make an useful blacklist just open a sub-forum with only moderator access and make a thread where every moder can edit and add in alphabetical order the guys blacklisted for breaking the rules This is a very practical and useful way to keep track of violators and unload work for moderators. I know it works because it was used in some forums I used to moderate time ago (+1500 daily hits) The Dirrtiest
We already have something of that sort to keep track of what people do.
