Mini Pets

I have been gone from Guild Wars since October, so sorry for the possibly easy question. What are these mini pets that I have seen and heard about, How do you get them, and Where do you find them. Thanks.

they are like these small bad guys that follow you around, you can get them when your character turns a year old. they are pretty nifty, and they come in a variety of monsters

The mini pets are birthday presents for characters. When you character reaches 1 year of age, they'll put a "birthday present" in your inventory. When you double click it, a little "pet" is revealed. They don't do anything but follow you around outside of town.
They range from charr to hyrdas to bone dragons. You can also get a factions pet, such as a siege turtle.

lol i almost threw my birthday present in the trash can, because i quitted after the christmas event, and thought it was one of those presents that spawn a snowman. good thing I found out about them before i threw em in trash can lol.

ok my char is older than a year but i never got a b-day present so what is up? is there a command torecive it or what?

Type /age to see each character's age in months. If your character now says "You have played this character X hours over the past 12 months." , you should receive your present shortly.
Make sure you have a clear inventory slot.
