The Troubadour, ORIGINAL CONCEPT ART!
Vile
I know that this class has been suggested many times, but what makes this different from most is that I've drawn out concepts for what this class would look like based on my experience of playing Guild Wars. I figured pictures convince more than words so here's some images of what my girlfriend and I thought would be a good class to add to the Guild Wars family of professions. Since the new professions seemed to be based off of the previous character models (i.e. ranger = ritualists, or necromancer = assassin) this class could be built off of the mesmer model. It was my intention that the troubadour profession use instruments instead of weapons to battle their enemies so I threw in a couple of examples of what possible instruments could be used. My girlfriend suggested that offhand weapons could be whistles or bells, maybe a tambourine. Obvioulsy drums, lutes/guitars, and flutes would be two handed weapons. I also conceived that their skills could be songs and that the song names would be titles of the skills. Ideally the primary color of their armor would be blue when first purchased so that's the color I leaned to in the pictures. Some differentiating attributes would be the hats for head protection and high collars to protect the throat from injury for vocal attacks. I especially like the large brimed hats with the feathers, they strike me as a good unique quality. Also if this class were assimilated into the game it would be interesting to see if the designers/programers could implement the instruments to be used during the musical emotes so that they'd be visible when played. It'd be neat to see players of different classes to keep instruments to be used for this purpose.

Bard. Suggested already

Did you not see the pictures...?
lyra_song
Yes...i did see that pics.
A bard is a very typical MMORPG class that uses musical instruments and songs as weapons and magic. Exactly what you suggested.

Yes, this profession has been covered, but it is said that Arena.net reads the forums for ideas. That's why I posted pictures for a frequently suggested profession. I'm not trying to cover old ground, I'm trying to add enough spectacle to influence the game developers into making this class. There are enough suggestions in these forums and others that in future games this class should be added.

So you drew some pictures. WAHOOOO!!!
How does this class work? I don't remember singing each other to death
What skills?
What attributes
How does it fit into GW?
Why is it needed?

I see some kind of bard working in GW, but it is not original. Nice drawings.

and yeah, its still only a bard under another name.

Im not criticizing the idea myself, but i think MERGING this thread with a pre-existing bard thread would be a better idea.

I like my virtuosso class...
great art work, like the concept and style.
I do have a bit of problem with music instrument doing attack damages. Maybe with skills, but just with regular attack seem a bit strang... unless they are magical attack of sort...
I am also not too fancy with the "classic" outfit of the bard as in those pictures. Many deem men in tight tights to be a bit fruity...They just seem a bit too traditional to me, and I would hope GW would re-invent those classes somebit, adding Gypse or even tribalistic or Vikin style to it. So instead of one who sing and play in court, they should be more of a War Singer, Blade Dancer, or Army Marcher type. Of couse, thats just my opinions.

Ideally this would just be starting point to the armor, usually the armor in the game gets way cooler as you work through it so I felt I didn't have to go all out on the design. I didn't think I had to support this class as it has already been described many times over again under other similar names. I'm sure if Arena.net added a "Bard" to this game it would be much different from the classic understanding of how the character works. I'm also not opposed to this thread being merged since I was just trying to provide a visual for a class that'd been suggested frequently. I really don't think they'd use the weapons in a typical combat style. Some one suggested to me that they use skills similar to item skills used by ritualists where the skill would summon an instrument associated with it until the skill ended.
I'm reminded me a Mel Brooks' classic, "Men In Tights". It seems to me that most character models in this game are wearing rather tight fitting clothes. The tights were just between the boots and the puffy pants anyway.

not all women can be beautiful, thanks for you crude interpretation, though I'm not sure that needed to be commented on...

We can't comment on your lack of any actual suggestion and we can't comment on your pictures?
What can I comment on vile? It was sunny here today, I think it might rain tomorrow though.
And yes all women must be beautiful, no one wants to watch an ugly chick run around all day.

You can comment all you like, just make it polite and use some decency when responding to another human being. You are entitled to you own opinions but you're showing your lack of social graces in your responses. Since this thread has very little to do with anything at all now I recommend that you take your ideals elsewhere.
