Over the weekend as I slept I began to sell in-game items for real-life money, causing a permanent ban. No I have never dealt with any buying or selling through Guild Wars. Maybe their servers are getting too full? At first I just got the banned message when trying to log in. Then 2 e-mails later I found it what I had "done". They however will not take any protests because of this extreme situation. Thus my last 2 e-mails have not been replied to.
Can anyone offer any other suggestions of how I can get back on my account, this is an obvious mistake that they don't even want to look into. Below is the last e-mail I have received, I was confused to read their statement which includes "This means that standards of behavior must be upheld."
When I in fact know I have done nothing wrong, this definately does not uphold any standards that I would expect from NCSoft & ArentNet. Their behavior and lack of information regarding the issue seems to be more of the problem.
I've spent a few hundred hours playing Prophecies & Factions and have never done anything to get banned for. How can I get them to actually listen to my complaint? Please if anyone can help it would be soo much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
What's even funnier is I emailed my guild leader and told him what happened, so I started using my brothers account and my leader messages to say he went to demote my character but made me leader. So my banned account is now the guild leader and I can't get on to change it.

Hello Matthew,
Thank you for contacting us about your Guild Wars game account.
Your account was permanently closed because you engaged in the sale of in-game items for cash or other items with real world value, or you engaged in gathering items to be sold for cash or other items with real world value. Both actions are against our User Agreement, where Section 7 states, "You may not sell or auction any Guild Wars accounts, characters, items, coin or copyrighted material, nor may you assist others in doing so."
Protests regarding the termination of your Guild Wars game account will not be addressed or entertained. We will not accept appeals in cases such as this because of the depth of the analysis prior to the block. We regret the necessity of terminating any game account, but we will continue to take all necessary actions to protect the Guild Wars community and to assure that players are abiding by our User Agreement.
Please keep in mind that Guild Wars is a global game with hundreds of thousands of players. This means that standards of behavior must be upheld. For your convenience, you can obtain more information about our rules at the addresses listed below.

I have read posts like this before, on GWO I think, and those players did get their account unbanned, along with a standard apology email.
You need to keep emailing support, don't let the support ticket get closed, and eventually it will be looked into by a live person, rather than just generating a standard reply email. If they find there was an error, you get your account back.

No doubt about it, he's in breach of the rules.
On a kind of side track, when I look at people selling GW Items / Gold, I see a little disclaimer below the sale stating something like this:
You are buying the time invested in gaining this item. All items, gold and other ingame items or characters are properties of NCsoft.
Is this how people can sell stuff from ingame ?

Lol,
How dumb are you people who keep trying to tell him his is in violation? You think that, if he were really selling items, he wouldn't know why he was being banned? You guys need to learn to read.
The fact that his joke ("While I slept, I was selling in-game items for real money.") was missed by the first 3 people surprised me. The fact that people came on AFTER HE POSTED AGAIN SAYING IT WAS A JOKE and still didn't get it astounds me.
GWaddit, read his post again and then browse the whopping 6-7 posts after and realize how ironic it is for you to call other people stupid. (Btw, the proper use of the phrase would be "You're stupid" as in 'You are stupid', not "Your stupid" as in 'Your stupid book has words in it? How do you use those?' Skipping school does nothing to further your trek towards enlightenment
)
War Garrett, read read read. He never sold anything.
C'mon, people, it's not that hard
As for Invictus, I wish you luck. I've seen a few threads like this and the players seem to get their accounts back once they make it through the wall of crap and reach a real person. Unfortunately it appears that an obvious joke (I got it immediately....there was nothing wrong with the telling) has doomed your popularity on these forums though *laugh*

why would i do that when it worked fine and next time i was banned. I never said it was stolen nor do i think it was.
It's more ArenaNet banned me by accident
Does each item in game have its own "tag" that i could have traded an item and someone else sold it online.
Then they see it as my item for whatever reason and ban me?
edit : thank you for reading beat go stick i appreciate it. Ill keep emailing and hope my account is safe.

Someone that knows what they are doing wouldn't change his password. They would keep it the same, and only log onto the account for thier use. That way, he would never know, and they wouldn't be as easily caught. A player that has high amounts of gold or items stored on multiple characters might not notice that stuff is disappearing for a while.
Also (and much more likely), it is possible that someone using an ebay account used his email, or character name to cover themselves (whether they have access to his account or not). When a buyer comes to collect in-game, the seller could just say "This is my storage character."
In any case, It is HIGHLY possible that he really is a victim. I've seen similar occurances in other games. Best thing to do is not only email staff, but call them, mail them, do anything to bug the living daylights out of them until you are heard.

I'm sure there are phone numbers also. Check the manual. I'd list them if I had 'em handy.
P.S. - People really should read the entire post before ranting

What seems to work is repeatedly bombarding ArenaNet with emails, even if you get automated replies - sooner or later you'll break through and get a real reply - after a few games of e-mail tennis you'll probably get your account back. Good luck, and sorry on behalf of everyone who hasn't had the sense either to work out your sarcasm or read the complete set of posts

just gotta add my comments...
The owner of the account is soley responsible for what occurs on that account...
no mater if you were sleep walking your cousin did it your dog did it blah blah...
EVERYONE who gets banned ALWAYS claims to someone that they didnt do what they where banned for doing...
after playing MMOG's for over 8 years now you start to realize that the perps try to get community support for their actions... or simply deny all alogations...
you were sleeping... how convenient!...
people that don't break the rules dont get banned.(period)
so many people are playing legit and they aren't getting banned... hrmm wonder why that is...
