Lets say I want to get Full 15K Platemail.

You know how with platemail, it doesn't look good with knights or ascalons?

Is the dmg reducing mod there affect A LOT?

The damage reduction from one piece makes your armor better. That being said, if you're buying some 15k, don't be too afraid to just make it pretty, heck that's the whole point of 15k armor anyway.

And kudos to you for not buying 15k gladiators, I don't even register that as expensive fancy looking armor anymore.

Damage reduction adds up! Armor/Shield/Rune - it all helps. One possible solution would be to buy your full suit of 15k platemail for hanging out around town and doing minor adventuring, but keeping a piece of knights/ascalon armor in your backpack for the tougher fights?

lol. have you been chilling with my guildies? if so, you all need to get your eyes checked or adjust the settings on your monitor or something. my armor is RED, not pink. whatevs. don't hate me cuz i'm beautiful.

anyway, i'll gladly take any black dye donations so i can apply a red + black dye combo. =P

ps: it's strider. =)

Some people like to look at the armour some people are wearing to decide wether or not they get into the party.

Needless to say the "full set noobs" (sry for the harshness) get denied.
The reasoning behind it is that if they don't know the fundamentals of armour they probably don't know the rest either... leeerooy

Yeah, thats great aside from one thing. FoW and Canthan armors all look the same. I have 2 sets of Canthan armor and both are mixed but you cannot tell that by looking at it.

Kurzick/Luxon/Shing Jea/Canthan Knights looks the same as Kurzick Glads or Dreadnoughts.

Ok, once you have one piece of damage reduction, it does you no good to get any more pieces. It's a global mod, and it's -2 to damage. Most people get it, it helps with farming when every hit is -2 damage. It's pretty nice, but it's really up to you what you want to get.

If you're just doing PvE and really like the looks, go ahead and get full Platemail. But if you do care about stats at all (or plan to do PvP without everyone laughing at you), -2 damage from almost every source of damage in the game is very significant.

Ok, here's the math and the answer is no, you can't.

You can have only one absorption rune, if you choose Superior (and at current prices why on earth not) you get -3 damage always.
One piece of Knights armor will give you another -2 globally, if you forego that piece you stay at -3, adding another Rune does not raise the amount you can absorb.

Currently I have one piece of Knights armor and the rest Dreadnoughts (same as Platemail stat wise) which gives me -5 always and I can get -2 (conditional) from a shield or -5 (20%) on top of that.

Whether thats worth it is up to you.

I hate to be so dense... but since there is no indicator (all this could easily be displayed in a pop-up or mouseover window - "global absorption is -5")... i must ask again... to be clear:

I have ascalon helm with -1 absorption (non-stacking)
I have super absorption -3 on chest

what is my global absorption? would it make a difference to put the super abs on my helm also?

I may need to rethink getting a knights helm if you can indeed get -5 global... how can this be tested?

Thanks for the help.

If your ascalon helm has -1 reduced damage from attacks then I think your helm is bugged or something.
Mine has -2 X.x

It's usually more interesting to have the knight piece on your boots since you never really have to switch boots but you have to swap hands and helm a lot.
