need help with hardest quest in the game- Last Day Dawns and Defend Kryta
Demented Harpy
i need a strategy to beat Last Day Dawns- its like impossible, how is a group of 4 supposed to keep adelbern alive and kill a gigantic group of armageddon lords and burning titans and char lords and char axe fiends and then like 20 retarded lvl 8 chars going around casting hexes
adelbern dies in seconds- i get through the first group of armageddon and then i look on the radar and there's like 30 red dots flying towards adelbern, seems like some of the char axe fiends are using "Charge!" cause they're moving way too fast
anyong know a recommended team and builds for beating this mission?
i use W/x, i always use self heals other than healing sig with my second profession- i was thinking of using my ward tank and keep a constant Ward Against Harm up while i'm tanking sparks and armageddon lords
adelbern and his henchmen die too fast- can't find a way to keep them all alive- i need a WALKTHROUGH to this mission- are there any advantages to take advantage of in this mission or anything?
i havn't tried Defend Kryta in a while but i was thinking about giving up on LDD for good and trying the Kryta one- anyone know the best place to find a DEfend Kryta group? some people go to places with groups of 8 and run to kryta - anyways i need as much help as i can get on these 2 quests- any advice?

The easiest way to do Last Day Dawns is to get 6 people that want to do it and meet in Yaks Bend. Then run from Yaks all the way back to the Eastern Frontier.
Doing it with 4 is possible as well, if you have 2 monks do a healing ball around the king.

Regarding Defend North Kryta, it's the same thing, except get 8 people to meet in Temple of Ages.

For North Kryta, we did it with 6 out of Lion's Arch. Just made sure we had a competent interupting ranger along and we prioritized the degen causing mobs first. Easier on our monk that way.

okay, i found it pretty damn easy. our group consisted of 2 eles, a nuker, and one with armor of earth, that tanked when needed to, an ss, and the monk, being me. of course, the war can take the place of the earth ele.
so uhm how to do it? really, no tactic for it. the monk should DEFINATELY keep the guards alive, and the priest, they are a GREAT help. the others should take out the rangers out first, since they can be pretty annoying. if sparks appear, take those first. the necor should also bring blood ritual, the energy support will make the monk happier. besides of that, dunno. maybe try a spirit spamming rit if one monk aint enough, or two even. if that wont help, just go from yaks, but it isnt really needed if you dont completely act like a braindead person. also, i suggest not moving out too far, or the monk will have to run too much while switching targets. not sure if wards really help here, but its worth a try.
about kyrta, a bit harder part, but still okay. 2 monks can handle it, if needed take a third, or a rit. nuker is helpful, 2 wars, and a random one, SS or w/e you want. again, if this is not enough, go from toa as 8 man group. (silly how i failed it with an 8 man group, but managed it with 6
guess im just better as monk than necro
) hmm, id take out the water titans first, maelstrom and other crap can be pretty annoying. earth after that, because (i think they use it) stone daggers spammed on one target are pretty deadly as well. besides of that..i dunno, theres no real tactic. stick together, kill as you never killed before (or heal, in another case, lol) and you will eventually get it done..just dont expect the other teammembers to do it for you, EVERY single is important.
good luck with it

Its slightly more awkward than that... ever since they made it so groups with more than the allowed number entered towns there get completely disbanded. I once did Defend North Kryta, then 7 of us ran from there (yes we really did) all the way round the back of Serenity Temple and into Frontier Gate to reskill.
Now you'd have to bring runners from Yaks Bend, to make it all the way through Ascalon (degen sucks...) to begin fighting from the back end of the Frontier. Every single time i attempt Defend Kryta nowadays (at least 4), we end up with some twat leaving after kamikazing through 4 groups and dieing, followed by a massive chain quit from the rest. So i'd imagine LDD isn't much better...
1 thing i could do, find someone with Extinguish. Just about everything they do sets you on fire.

There was a little glitch I used to complete it, not sure if its been fixed by now. Even if the king dies, you still ge the message that you need to talk to him to get your reward after you killed all the titans.
Just go back to Frontier Gate, head back to the king, kill the first wave and then talk to him to get the reward.
As for North Kyta... I don't really remember, all I remeber is my team where really happy that I joined them after they tried it a few times. I was a necr and I mainly weakend with some curses but most of all, spammed Well Of Blood, helps with healing and stops the Well's Of Suffering.
Hope this helps a bit.

Are these like FOW quests, in that you can repeat them?
Or once you've done them, are they done forever?

Things which made LDD fairly simple for me
Monk - heal and protect the main NPC plus the priest because he's like an NPC secondary monk.
Ranger - with winter, and whatever else he wants to bring
Elementalist - with winter, nuking helps alot here
Warrior - to smash things
With 4 people being the limit in my group, we completed this without many problems at all. With the priest kept alive, he acts like another monk on the team, and helps keep the other NPC's alive.

LDD is the one for defending Ascalon right?
That was a fun one.
Four people. We were all friends, all in vent. Communication is the key.

My funny story doing Last Day Dawns - I had tried and failed about 5 or 6 times with my monk, including one group that got 6 peeps together at Yak's Bend and ran all the way there. Sigh.
Finally I found a very competent PUG that included a good warrior, ele and necro, and we survived the first wave well.
Then the warrior went e7. Sigh.
But we tried anyway - and what do you know!? We beat all subsequent waves and beat the quest with THREE toons. I was laughing. As someone else pointed out, I made it a point to keep that durn priest alive at all costs.
I can't remember my exact monk setup that day, but it was probably some version of the boon prot monk I like to run.

Uh.. for LDD..
Blood/Dom mesmer, monk, warrior, something in my team. Keep the NPCs alive and you have a team of 8 when combined with them. Titans aren't all that tough, so just rip through them, taking care of nukers and aggro.
Fairly easy quest so long as you turtle up with the npcs, Adelbern is a fairly decent tank. Just watch out for the charr lords (lv24) and don't mix them up with normal charr

Second attempt at LDD with my monk we got through easily. Had two warriors, a water ele with ward against harm, and I (the healer). The two NPC guards died but I keeping the priest alive helped a lot. Make sure your healer(s) save him. I had essence bond on the two warriors and Adelbern. They did enough damage to not get swamped with more than one wave at a time. The only problem we had was when I had scourge healing on me and got low on health at one point.
Ward against harm helped a lot, as did essence bond on the three tanks for energy. I found Adelbern to be an excellent damage-absorber. He was better than our two warriors for sure.
