1. Make Materials color different, lets say a Teal for Materials and a Navy Blue for Rare Materials.
Reason:
When selling items to merchant, it would make it clearer to the user that the selected item is a material, and not an item.
2. On the top bar when talking to merchant, make it so you can click another little button that hides materials and rare materials.
Reason:
To prevent yourself from merchanting a Stack of 250 Ecto, or alot of some other Rare material
3. Be able to buy in Bulk from Rare material trader. (Both merchant + material trader bulk methods acceptable)
Reason: annoying to have to press buy over and over and over again.

1. Perhaps, though if you wouldn't get in such a hurry when selling this wouldn't be an issue. You can also stick your materials in the last bag, say with extra armor and weapons. So you know to be careful when merchanting there.
2. I dunno, this seems excessive if you pay attention and take a few precautions.
3. The rare material trader's purchases affect the economy as a whole. Therefore which each purchase it (supposedly) must reconfigure to see if the price is still the same, and as such you have to "request a quote" each time.
Solution: Don't buy from the trader, lol. Most of the time the stuff is a good bit cheaper from players.
