Best type of bow?
Michael_Changstein
Was wondering what your opinions were on what was the best type of bow in the game? I think eternal bows are the best, simply because i think recurve bows are the best bow class. Any input?
Lampshade
There is no "best" bow, different bows perform in different situations.
For instance, most people use a horn bow for RangerSpike, but it wouldn't be good on a Cripshot runner.

Yep. Ask me what the CUTEST bow is, and I might have an answer.
What the BEST bow is depends entirely on what you're going to do with it.
I'm pretty much a dedicated short-bow person, myself, and I still use three types of bows on an everyday basis.

what's best for barrage? long?
Elthanor
probably a vamp long, so you can stay back and spam away.
1 question, does the speard of the barrage skill make a differents on how far away you are?

No the distance doesn't affect that. In fact I've had more than one foe on either side of me that were hit by the barrage. I think it has to do with how close they are to the target.
My favorite bow to use is a short bow, but I have an eternal (composite type), and a storm bow (long type) for different builds and areas.
By the way there are several threads on "what is the best bow in the game" already. They have lots of good info in them including why people like certain bows for barrage. If search is working you will get some good info. If it's not then just scroll back through the past 4 - 6 pages and you will find them.

if you aren't using an attack speed buff... then Flatbows are the best bow for Barrage builds

All situational... best to just read this: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Bow
and experiment on your own. I personally prefer my zealous recurve bow as I usually have my quickshot oriented build so I need a fast and accurate bow but I dislike the lack of range a Short Bow has.

I use recurve bow most of the time, switch to short bow when the action gets to close for comfort, got a spare hornbow for more damage and I use a flatbow for pulling and when obstructed.

I personally like hornbows because of the non-conditional 10% AP.

As a massive user of the Ranger class, these are the bows I use:
- Half Moon Bow (Short) - Main bow during combat. Fastest rate of fire and quickest arrow time. Range is short however.
- Vampire Hornbow - Use when I'm doing Ranger Spike. !0% Armor Penetration is a must. Life stealing mod adds additional damage. Slow rate of fire doesn't matter since its used with quick fire skills
- Zealous Flatbow - Used for Barrage Pet runs or general Barrage Builds. Keeps my energy levels up and has a good range and arrow speed.
- Longbow - Used to hit/pick off targets from a distance, or when they are running away and out of range of my Half Moon bow.
