Hi,
I was wondering if it's worthwhile to wear one single piece of Knight's armor for the Damage Reduction.
Damage Reduction is nice, but, on the other hand, Knight's armor does have -20 AL per piece than, for example, Sentinel armor.
What's everyone's opinion on this?
TIA!
Wearing one Knight's (DR) armor piece. Worth it?

well knight's damage reduction is global. one piece gives you a global -2 from attacks. while the point you raised about the decreased armor vs. sentinel's or gladiator's is true, you can minimize the effect of this by wearing a piece of knights on a hitbox that is less likely to be hit, say, the gloves or the boots.
and that is why you see so many people with knights' boots.

There's a damage caculator utility at the main page of Guru, it's relatively accurate.
Using Knights boots will mean you have a 12.5% chance to get hit there. That's one in 8 hits. On those other 7 hits you're getting a -2 global reduction, in addition to the + armor against elemental. You also need to consider that most damge is from melee sources, or is armor ignoring. The -20 against elemental damage is really not an issue, especaily since how often do you expect to take big damage from a spell that factors all into your AL on a piece of armor that has a 1 in 8 chance to be struck. You're really going to get milage out of Knights boots compared to sentinals boots, especialy since armor becomes less effective the more you add(sortof like attribute points into many skills past 12).

1) I think I've seen a thread about this on possible GwO or some other fansite, sorry forget the name I'll post if i find it. It disproved this theory, so canthan = tyrian.
2) I wouldn't have thought that Anet would change it just for the different campaign, seems a bit... odd?
Yeah I would go for "All knights armor, whether Canthan or Tyrian gives a global damage reduction"

I recently tested sentinal armor against lightning.
Lightning orb
w/o knight boot ~69 dmg
w/ knight boot ~67 dmg
Thank You
