Ok I know that a guild faction goes up when you contribute faction through the faction transfer.
What I want to know is, what are the reasons why a guild's faction will decrease? I've heard that members of the guild doing mission, redeeming faction, and buying armor from the opposing alliance will decrease a guild's faction to its own alliance. For example, my guild is Luxon, so if people do kurzick missions and redeem kurzick faction for amber in my guild, will my guild's faction go down?
Thanks

As to PERSONAL faction. yes. if you turn in faction for 1 side for jade or amber it also cost you faction on the other side. Same is true turning it in for 5000 at a time towards alliance standing...
All Guild / Alliance standing values decrease as 10% a day cycles (Not personal faction). This is to prevent a Large faction farming alliance from retaining control of a capital forever even if most are inactive. Eventually the upkeep on some of those alliances is so large they have to farm 20k faction a piece daily to maintain their standing. that's a ton... Its not something most alliances can do forever. and that was the point... It gives everyone a fair shot at controlling a town at some point or another...
And no helping the other side on a quest or PvP does not damage your personal faction or Alliance standing. Only turning it in...
I normally retain 10k faction on both luxon and Kurzicks, so I can run my other characters through to the 10K quests quickly... then the map stays open for me. Once all my characters are through the 10k quest I turn them in for alliance standing. If I do some FF I always maintain my 10k levels on the end of the day so I don't mess up my account strategy.
