Character slots for sale... when?

It just says "this summer"... Anyone remember that the Sorrows Furnace update was in "summer".. and it was released in the final hours in the very last possible day of "summer"...

Thing to remember with ANET's time estimations is to never get your hopes up!

Gaile said that Improved storage would be released at Factions, if not, "very soon after".... its coming up to two months later, so that gives you an idea of what "very soon" means to ANET.

I figure the only improved storage is going to be purchaseable at $9.99 for USD for 40 slots and an option to add one belt pouch, two bags, and two runes of holding for an additional in game gold sink. The benefits are:

1. GW develops a new gold sink in minor items.
2. $9.99 gets 45 of the approx. 200 needed additional slots per account, or $49.95 USD per account just for storage.
3. Each additional character above that is another $9.99 and need for more storage.

Hm, on the subject of updates that we are wanting... My boots still only give +10 vs physical .

I'm looking forward to more character slots too, I could do with the storage and extra slots for convenience because i can get horribly lazy

im afraid of buying 2-3 and then getting 2 free slots with the next gw anyway...

no offense but "soon" for ANET means 6 to 12+ months


took ANET 5 months to release Sorrows Furnace (after it was mentioned)

took ANET 9 months to release ObserverMode (after it was mentioned)

This summer, summer in Australia or summer in Europe ?

It is kinda mean to finally confirm they will let us purchase additional slots and then say "soon!" and "this summer!" and then leave us writhing in agony for almost two months, wondering how much longer we have to wait to buy it. I hope the long wait is due to them exploring how many (tons) of slots we can buy on our accounts. It would be nice to at least get a more specific release date estimate on the slot purchases from them.

sry but they don't have to give us any UPDATES ... they don't get payed for giving you those updates (offcourse when they give updates like this more ppl will love the game and buy new chapters)

Why can't you be happy that they give you these updates, that they will give you the possibility of buying new slots...

It's not that when they say something that they just can put their whole team on an update like that. Chapter 3 and many other more important stuff have to get rdy and I am rly happy that they descided to sell us slots, that means they do listen to the community.

I hope it is soon, I have so much stuff for my sin just waiting for him to claim it.

Well, this is not really like the "Summer Update" thing cause that would not have made them more money.

The new slots thing is easy, they have to change a few technical things and then just start raking in the cash. I'm sure the motivation factor on the extra slots deal is far greater than the one for Sorrow's Furnace.

Nope, it simply means that they conducted some surveys and studies which proved that the lost sales from potential "dual account" holders pales in comparison with the amount of money they'd make selling slots.

Besides people have already paid for their 2nd/3rd accounts, hmm, let's foist them again by touting the advantages of "not having to unlock your pvp skills over and over" and sell slots back to them instead!

I wouldn't be surprised if they've already planned this from day 1 really.

A scary thought. A scary thought indeed. But why not take it further? How about a summer that never happens? Summer in Canada! Summer in Siberia!

Although actually they do have summer in those places. I should know, I live in one of them. But if you ever try asking Joe American about Canadian summers, you'd be convinced there was no such thing. At which point you'd probably point out that Windsor is farther south than Seattle, and probably cough something about Alaska under your breath.

It's just that you track the seasons more by the length of the day then temperature changes ;-).

Actually, I think the poles are where the changes due to season are the largest in terms of degrees (although don't go quoting me on that). It's just that from the viewpoint of someone closer to the equator, it's always freezing.

And just to poke fun... I predict the Australian summer of '08. ANet was founded by ex-Blizzard people, after all...

And another reason why I love Guild Wars/Factions. Quick replies and honest answers.

well thats why I have 2 accounts... it would be nice to have them merged into one, but having 2 does give you a few options (like running yourself for free, having storage characters etc etc). Originally I had used all 4 slots, with 2 extra from factions, Ive made a Ritualist, and am trying my hardest to keep one slot free for PVP.. Extra slots would be nice.. but i dont think i will be to fussed

Wow i really need these slots soon. I hope by summer they mean June 21st, but i highly doubt it.
Im about to delete my decked out lvl20 ranger just so i can try out an ele... and what about PvP... oooo please hurry anet, there is a world in need of your aid.
