::Note: most of this is fiction, created by me to fill in the major plot holes in the story::
200 years ago, the emperior found a secret text that would allow him to transfer his spirit into anothers body, consuming their's and becoming stronger, and hence forth gain the spiritual power of those killed. The emperior had been diagnosed with a disease, and realised his time was running out, but there was one nitch in the spell, the one whos body he would control had to kill him, so he paid an old peasent to act like a fortune teller to the mighty warrior known as Shiro Tigachi, everything went as planned and he took control of Shiro's body, and with every warrior he killed he became stronger, his body built up this energy like a battery, and when he died the power exploded known as "the jade wind"
unfortunately he was killed. But as emperior he was set aside the right to become an envoy, and since he consumed the original Shiro tigachi's soul this is why he takes on the appearance of him. This allows him to know that Togo was of the royal line, since they are spiritually connected.
The reasons why Shiro wanted to become human again is from his wonderings though the ancient text (Note: the reason he was being chased around) is because he descovered a way to become invincible, but he needed to sacriface his blood, which as a ghost he could not do, when he became human his body absorbed from the world the amount of power it had at death, that is why when he was defeated the adapts sealed him in stone, before his body had a chance to explode with a second jade wind.
-----------
This would explain why thje fortune teller could not witness her own death in order to avoid it. This would also explain the magic that leaves the emperiors body in the CGi scene previewing Factions. As well as other plot holes.
I got it! the story behind factions ::spoliers::

good theory, but i doubt it would be that complex. in the lore it simply says that shiro betrayed the empereor and then the hatred in his soul exploded when he died.

Ah, but if only Arena.net would slip in the type of hints in a ending+ matrial like the titans quests in Ch.1, they might beable to salvage the story for the better, although the would still have to fix the Vizu vs Shiro cutscene for tahnakai temple, cause that fighting is so bad.
Ching clang ching,
Shiro: I didn't really hit you but it looks like its having an effect
Vizu: Well nah nah, I may be a 200 year old ghost but i am going to try and mock you like a 7 year old girl, tag your it!

golem bigstick ,the cinematics, give another story Shirow doesnt seem to kill the Emperor out of hatred, but rather as an act of self preservation -thus betraying his sworn duty as a bodyguard.
I like beleg curudin, fictional explaination, it ties up some of the rampant plotholes. Still nothing in chapter two that really links it two chapter 1, cept for mhenlo

Roupe// I don't think it's supposed to... It's just supposed to be a different
adventure you go through I think,, if they tried to connect everything, then the later chapter will be tougher, because some one can buy ch4 but not 3. And if it's supposed to be continued, then it'd be hard.
