how many people can group in pre -- 4?
also, have I got this right on shields --- you can either have a max of +30 health unconditional, or 50 conditional?

4? It's two. In presearing Ascalon you can only group with one other person. The only part in presearing where you group with 4 is during the very last part where you are just minutes away from searing anyway.
On the Canthan starter island Shin Jea Isle you can group with 4 people, but that's not presearing.

yes for shields is +30hp unconditional and +45hp while enchanted or in stance
then +60hp while hexed
