Assassin = Book Trick?
Wacky
After finishing factions with my mesmer I noticed that monks were in high demand so I dusted off my monk and took him to level 20, then started going through the storyline missions and quests.
I'm not much experienced as a monk, but I noticed that Assassins (and the MM) seem to be taking most of the aggro, but the total healing I have to do overall, with a group with or without an assassin, is really about the same. Maybe a little more.
So, do you think a use for assassins would be like a new version of the book trick? Bond/Barrier them up and let them take all the heat, etc.?

They don't take more aggro, they just take more damage, so it looks that way

Not all are like this......some are very skilled
but it does prove that with a good warrior holding aggro, a skilled group doenst need a book, even though it helps.

Monsters automatically target the closest low armor/hp target, which is obviously... assassins. Unfortunately. If you make your warrior to drop a few armor level, and you increase the assassins', watch the warrior get aggro like mad.

Yeah, I noticed that the AI likes to attack whatevers near and has the least armor/hp - I was doing Riverside Province last week and the hp of a sword wielding E/Me kept dropping, just like a you-know-what, and MM's seem to take more heat due to all the sacs.
Which is why I'm asking if assassins could have a use in PVE as a way of getting most of the aggro onto one person, which you can stick preventative measures like life bond/barrier and stances like dark escape. I seriously need to cap Life Barrier...

Actually, now thinking about it... if monsters are chasing someone near by, if the warrior suddenly strip him/herself, will the mob jump him instead? Then put the armor right back on when all the mob is on him/her.

These ones are a MMs best friend since they make many minions together. XD

use death nova on assasins! nothing can beat that O_o a single assasin (even if dead nearly all the time) ftw! rofl:P
easier solution than bonding an assasin;
make them learn how to use an assasin correct.
problem solved =P

I can certainly tell you that a warrior with Infuse Health will get agro. But this is nothing new, my roommate and I were using him as an infuse warrior to get the bonus for D'Alessio Seaboard/Divinity Coast quite some time ago.

First of all an MM uses 2 sacrificing skills for minnion health regen, so he's not really taking damage (if he/she is any good), he's sacking himself to heal the minnions.
Secondly, assasins have crap for armor and no strength attribute to lower damage. Equal to casters highest AL (60 or 70), but that are always in front tanking the mobs, not using stances or shadow stepping. So, they are just getting pwned and healing them is like running e-surge/burn on yourself over and over.

Rofl.. Book trock assassin..
Another alternate use some friends and i have came up with for them would be a Portable Well/Minion.
Could this be implemented? I think so.
