Stupid questions: how do the teleporters in the desert work

How do i turn on the teleporters in the desert?

When you step on a teleporter, you'll need to see the pedestals behind/near the teleporter. They will flash in a pattern. Repeat the pattern, by clicking on the pedestals with your mouse, to activate the portal.
