weapons for assasin.
cynnn
Hi, just have a few questions regarding weapons for assasins.
Say for pve and competitive missions:
Vampiric 15^50 +30hp?
Zealous 15^50 +30hp?
Sundering 15^50 +30hp?
or
Vampiric +5energy +30hp?
Zealous +5energy +30hp?
Sundering +5energy +30hp?
or a +20enchant longer mod?
what i wanna know is, whether using the +5energy weapons will reduce your dmg output by a big chunk? (even after customizing).
and, if u do prefer +5energy, do u use a zealous prefix mod to earn back energy quicker?
thanks in advance. appreciate ur help.

depends on your skill set really. imo, every dagger should be 15^50, extra dmg is definitly an assassin+. +5 energy is...meh, i guess good in a way, but you need to think fo some things first. sin's attack very fast, and they have critical strikes. 8 points into critical strike will land you 2 energy every crit. Also, if you have a zealous mod, you are getting +1 every hit as well, so basically you can have a chance to score 3 energy every hit, and at the rate the assassin attacks, your energy bar will be full quite often. The best way to explain how I choose what set of daggers to you is by first, telling you the two sets i have, and let you go from there. also, keep in mind that my critical strikes are always at 8 or higher, so i have the chance for at least +2 energy on a crit.
Primary set: Zealous Golden Talons of Fortitude
15^50
+1 -1
+30
Secondary set: Sundering Dragon Scythes of Fortitude
15^50
20/20
+30
Primary set: I use these if I am going to be using any enchantments that take away from my energy degen (ex. Aura of Displacement or Recall). Yes, you do lose one energy degen from the daggers, then another from the enchantment, but the +1 energy every hit is extremely helpful do to fast attack speed, as well as a decently high chance to crit landing you +2 more energy is excellent. My main build runs AOD, so I usually stick with my Talons.
Secondary set: I use these when I am running a build that does not run an enchantment. There are some areas of the game where you just can't use enchantments because of the high chance to get them stripped. I usually use death's charge in these areas, and keep moebius strike as my elite. Without the worry of degen, extra damage is excellent. All of my dagger attacks cost 5 energy, so the +2 energy from my crit chance keeps my energy reserves where they need to be. In these cases, I go with my Scythes.
Of course, this is what I have found that works best for me. You may see things another way, as well as another person too. Just give it a try for yourself, and see what you think.

Always go for the highest +dmg mod you can get, 15^50 being prime. For most other characters even my warrior, i dont care as much. For an assasin however, with so many dual hits and critical hit chances, the damage really adds up fast with that addictional +15% dmg.
Think of it like +15% dmg EVERY hit, so out of say 10 hits you would do an average 150% more total damage to that target then without the dmg modifier. Of course it would be a good amount less due to target armor, stances, evades. But overall, same conditional target for a +dmg mod daggeres and a non-+dmg dagger set, you definitly do more dmg in the end. The add up really makes a difference. imo of course.
enjoy.

im using these atm.
zodiac dagger req8 15^50 20/20sunder +30hp (primary set for pve)
oni dagger req8 15^50 zealous +30hp
dragon scythes req8 15^50 3/1vamp +30hp
for pve, i dont find the need to switch to zealous set at all if i have high enough critical strikes. however i do switch to the vampiric set when i feel my health is depleting at a gradual rate.
i still think theres a need for +5energy weapons. maybe not general pve but competitive missions like Aspenwood. AOD, get in, spam skills and stack whatever shit with your high energy, get out. i have seen numerous assasins at work in aspenwood, they dont stand n fight, or chase after someone. the smart ones just teleport around and stacking conditions/degen every nw and then.

i pretty much always use aod, pve and pvp, so therefore my zealous daggers are my main ones. The zealous mod can be useful in pve as well. If you are not using aod, just stick with the zodiacs. i never really cared for the vamp mod, but i guess it can be useful. although, i would never sacrifice the 15^50 for 5 energy. assassins attacks do not drain that much energy, and you can refil it fast, so it is usually much better to have that extra damage.
as for aspenwood, i do that mission all the time on my assassin. its great fun, and you get faction for it. my play style is not unique probably, but different than what you described. I usually wait until i see a loan person, aod to them, then hound them with everything i have, which on squishies, pretty much always results in there death. if there is a larger group of enemies, and there is a bit of a stand off, i will aod to one of them, hound on them until im noticed, then aod out + dark escape sometimes if its nasty. this strategy works well for me, and rarely do i die. my deaths usually result from my lack of attention towards the siege turtles. -290 in one hit hurts, especially if you get turned on by someone else.

Not really sure how the sundering's a negative
As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing not to love about these.

Daggers of Xuekao are pretty bad...

Daggers of Xuekao are not bad, they aweful :S I only ever use them when i have shadow form build in pve, which is very rare.
Best to have a collection of them like i do, i switch around my weapons all the time, vampic when i need health, i use energy daggers when i need energy, and when i use combo, i use sundering!

Since you all seem to be hating on Daggers of Xuekao (which I admit I might've been a tad overenthusiastic about) let me explain why I like them. The build I use almost always has me enchanted (damage+15% and duration+20%). The armor penetration is just an added bonus, as far as I'm concerned.

yeah but it's the Sundering that makes it suck... if you want a pair of "while enchanted" daggers... get these : http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Darkroot%27s_Daggers
