Release Dates on fixes

I apologise if this has been asked for in the past; search is not working.

After seeing the "Tired of the griping" thread, I had a thought that might help with some of the "Anet doesn't care" kind of ideology that has shown up rescently.

Perhaps adding to "The Scribe" Anet can add a release date for fixes and in game adjustments to let us know what's being worked on and when they might be live.

These dates would of course be tentative and probably changing frequently. The release dates to most games do this now, so it's not a new idea or situation to us gamers.

The end purpose would be so that the player base can see what's being worked on and when we might see what features are being added.

I know, some players will complain if something is delayed and what not, nothing we can do about that, but this would at least show us what Anet is working on.

when people see that the date of release of something would be around X day, when X day arrives and they see that the something they have been waiting for, hasnt arrived, they will say that Anet lied or something like that.

That already happens, so there'd be no change.

*coughs Sorrow's Furnace coughs* I mean... the "summer" update happening in September a few days before summer ending... those dastardly people at A-net.

Though, I would love to have just some idea of what's going on. And the scribe would be a really nice way to let the fans know what's going on behind the scenes.

well, it was still summer , any way, a storytell like way to say whats going would be nice, like:
"people from the *insert chapter 3 continent name here* are starting to appear in some places of Cantha, altough they preffer to remain not seen, rumors are that..."

something like that would be a good thing to read.

I like the idea...but ANet seems to be lazy as it is, and their release dates are vague. Months ago, the trading problem's fix was "on the horizon."

The horizon isn't THIS far away is it? It's a vague description...so no matter when they release it, their estimate is correct. Annoying.

I really don't care what they do, because they don't appear to be doing what they promised. My favorite recent update is the Elementalist skill revision where the description for Ward against Harm now says it's a Ward Spell. Because it's that kind of update that is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY when there are so many other insignificant problems to fix like the armor situation, storage, and trading. add sarcasm to this paragraph, where i say necessary i meant pointless, and where i say insignificant i mean significant. I do this so people aren't confused. I shouldn't have to explain sarcasm but i do anyways so we're all on the same page

This can also be a tool to help "lighten" the community as well.

Take a big addition and give it a August date when they (Anet) knows it will be done earlier than that. Anet releases early, say in July, and boom - happier players.

If the date slips, like I said, nothing new to gamers for the most part. At least letting us know with The Scribe will cover the base so those crying foul will have something to reference back too.

Also, to clarify: I do not believe Anet should tell us why something slips or give away detailed info on such things. All I want to know is a tentative release on what is being added and changed - kind of like a movie teaser if you will.

I really hope you actually have a slight idea of how design/production teams work, but incase you don't, allow me to educate you. Not everyone is working on the same part of the same project at the same time. Lets say you have 50 people in your team. Those 50 are broken up into 6 groups of 5, 2 groups of 7 and 2 groups of 3. Each group is given a different thing to work on, such as artwork, grammer, new elements, etc. As each group finishes a task, that task is sent to the testing group(s), who make sure the change works as expected. Once the testing is done, and everything is noted as good, it is released to the public.

This is why you'll see a bunch of little things, such as changing the text on a spell and occasionally a big thing. The groups working on the little things got them done quickly, the big things are still being worked on.

The old addage about too many cooks spoiling the broth applies to most projects, not just cooking.

ANet wont give release dates because if they give a release date and they dont make it they get OMG WTF BBQ from the community. Proven by the fact that they are getting this already when they havent even given a release date for any fixes besides soon.
