New Characters

Hi. Im a fairly experienced player, but only ever played one char in prophecies. Now that i'm bored with my Warrior, Im looking to fill up my empty character slots. I do have Factions, but I dont like it much. As a result, i'm torn between creating my new characters in Tryia, or Starting In Cantha, then moving to Tryia when I hit the mainland. If I start in Tryia, I understand It takes longer to level up etc but skills come much more easily. In Factions however, you level up faster, but dont get nearly as many skills. Basically, I want to enjoy Guild Wars as much as possible and also, If I do start in Tryia, is there anyway to play the game so's not to get bored by taking a 4th character through the game?

If anyone could help me in this matter It would be much appreciated, as I;ve been toiling over this question for quite some time.

Thanks in advance.

My guild name not know you must.

Just make a Tyrian char, levelling up slowly is more fun than 4000xp quests, IMO... after I reached lvl 20 in Cantha i stopped doing quests, no good rewards...in Tyria you get nice XP, that, for a change, you need and free skills.

Having one character means you haven't experienced Shing Jea (as a new canthan character) so I would advise you to try that out. While there are no skill quests, you can get the skills you want quickly, which is all that counts.

If you have been through the Ascalon to LA section of the game 3 times already, I'd definitely would suggest creating one in Factions (should experience it at least 1 time). I personally like starting in prophecies more, it give your character time to grow and you time to learn to play it. In Factions, I get the impression that they want me to level up and get off that island as soon as possible. "Oh, your not lvl20 yet, here's another quest for a few bazillion xp" (yes, exaggeration). I however do like the fact that you can get monastery credits from quests for id/salvage kits, weapons, and ale.

Wow, there's so many ways you could go. Here's a couple...
  1. Start a Tyrian character, play to Lion's Arch, take the boat to Cantha, buy max armor, return to Tyria and continue.
  2. Start a Canthan character, play through learner's area, get max armor, boat trip to Tyria, run to Ascalon.

Just play it the way you're most comfortable with!

If you have NOT played through Factions even once then create one character there. Its worth going through once and it wont be the same old, same old all over again.

Its true that in Factions you get only a few 'free' skills and the rest you have to buy. Eventually the price of the skills reaches 1K each. But you get money quite easily while playing the game normally. And if you arent one of those "ZOMG!!! I HAVE TO HAVE all those rare skinned weapons and 15K armors" then money doesnt really become a problem.

Then do both! You have enough slots for it.

I have 8 characters, of which only 3 are factions characters.. personally I prefer the looks of the Tyrians, and I like the build up process in prohecies too.. Its a tough one, but Ive just recently started a Tyrian Mes, and am really enjoying it. Knowing the game well makes a little more enjoyable I think.
