So I decided to do some video of some of my builds and was going to finally post some stuff here on guru. So last night I downloaded fraps and was pretty dissapointed, but perhaps I'm doing something wrong...
I do not want to buy the program!
I cannot get fraps to record anything over 29 seconds in length-which really sucks. I'm using 800x600 and "1/2 window" setting which seems to be fine when you maximize the video (alt+enter with WinMP-it looks a little grainy but you can at least read text on the screen and such).
I checked out a few other videos on various posts here, and on gwonline, and I noticed Remmeh's FoW R/Me solo build had a 120MB video that was ~15 minutes. I watched the video and was quite impressed with the quality considering the length and size.
So I guess my questions:
Am I doing something wrong with fraps or is this a limitation of the free trial?
Is there a better FREE alternative to fraps that anybody can recommend?
What settings have worked best for you guys (FPS, resolution, etc.) that keep the size down but get decent quality?
Now this is just capturing-I still need to edit this video.
What programs are you guys using to edit? Will the XP Movie Maker suffice? Any recommendations for FREE stuff out there to edit the video?
I appreciate your responses, and look forward to sharing some of my builds with you.

GameCam seems to be popular.

XP Movie maker should do perfect, unless you want to make a hollywood production. As far as your other questions, I have no idea. I'm pretty sure the trial 30 sec thing can be dodged, just don't know how. |
