The standard is probably the axe since you want a nice spike and the deep wound from Eviscerate. If u are doing GvG you'll most likely have another warrior in the build and they might run something other than axe. I don't like shock with a hammer as I find the energy management diffucult (of course i could just suck) since you tyically use other energy based attacks and perhaps sprint instead of rush.

People seem to misunderstand what shock is actually for when they watch top guilds play it. It doesnt matter how much energy your build "needs" you can't spam it regardless. It's primarily for a pre spike knockdown to stop a target kiting or a monk healing. In certain cases you can use it for a cheap interupt but don't go spamming it on every caster you see.
Personally I find having a hammer war knock down for a spike works fine, shock is just there for flexibility with splits and ganking.
Seriously don't run this in RA or something if that's what you were planning (a lot of people do). Bull's Strike is far superior for anti kiting because it's much more spammable and it KDs your target at your feet whereas with shock targets gain distance on you during the cast.

I wouldn't bother with shock on a Hammer. Of course you don't spam the thing! That would be even worse. I prefer w/n with plague touch which is far more useful imho. If you have a speed burst, once you have charged up all your adrenaline skills you can track down your target and use your lead attack which is always a kD anyway with another KD mixed in the chain. Shock is just unecessary.
