The skill database could use some updating

I've noticed that the skills database is a bit lacking. I've noticed mostly on the Ritualist page, but I really haven't checked the others.

1. There are several skills that have changed (either recharge time, or energy cost) since last update

2. There are some skills listed that do not have the proper description (see Wrath from Beyond and Pain for example)

3. There are some skills that are just not there (example: Signet of spirits)

This is the only GW website the system administrators haven't blocked yet (and hopefully won't). I like to think about builds while at work and then try them out at home. But, in order to do so, I would appreciate an update on the skills (all classes). I understand that this will take some time (research, updating and ftp'ing) so I will be patient.

Thx for looking...

Mercury Angel's working dilligently to update each and every description. I have confidence that we'll have those updated in a timely manner. We appreciate the feedback and will definitely do our best to update the skills to a useable setting

Wandering my own road.

Yeah, about that, sorry >_>

I thought I'd be done sooner, but, well, as is obvious, I'm not.

The Elementalist, Assassin, and Mesmer are all recorded and uploaded into the database.

The rest are at varying states of completion, but none get uploaded until accurate, current descriptions are verified for each skill in that profession.

It'd go faster if I'd snag them from another website, but that's probably both not advisable, and I prefer to verify everything by hand myself when I'm the one uploading them.

It's pretty much my fault they've been going slow. I took on more projects than I should have over a given time. On the plus side, I've already started abandoning ones I know I'm not going to have the time, or motivation, to complete. The skill listings aren't one of those <_<

5 professions to go, 4 of which won't take nearly as long as Ritualist, they'll be completed.

Though one thing to note, adding and updating skill icons is beyond my means. The server move during the turn of the year caused problems with it, and no new icons can be uploaded, so any that lack a proper one won't be getting one any time soon.

In any case, I apologise for the inconvenience. It'll get done.

Thx for the info...

As far as the skill icons are concerned, it's really no big deal. It's the skill description, energy, cast time and recharge that most interests me most.

Upkeeping this website is a big job, to be sure. I appreciate all your hard work.

I take the opportunity to advertise this. There is already an up-to-date description of all GW skills hosted by GWG. All you need to do is to display these cards dynamically.

Mercury Angel has put a lot of effort in the GWG skill pages, but it's hardly something you can do alone. I think it would be better for MA to help us maintain the SoF database, and to use the Sealed Deck Generator package which is already partly installed here.

For the records, here is a test page showing a few features that could be *easily* implemented here: [ skill ] bbcode, minicard tooltips, and dynamic link to guild wiki skill pages (put your mouse over the icons and click on them).

The graphical package is easy to install, the SoF database is very flexible and easy to maintain (more than a wiki or GWG skill pages for instance), the dynamic link the outstanding guild wiki provides any additional material or related content (maps, comments...). Why reinvent the wheel when all this material is free to use?
