Looks like Anet had been working on closing the gap between hardcore and casual players.

My experience is...

First it was in Elona Reach: The first 3 farm runs of of the day get lots of drops. But get almost no drop after the 5th run

Now it's UW: Everyday, I get 1 ecto in UW on first run of the day. 2nd and 3rd runs get no ecto. The odd thing is that I ALWAYS get 1 ecto on the first run of the day.

And so...farm for 1 hour everyday and you pretty much get about the 50%loot as hardcore players.

6/15 Update: It seems like there's a nerf in UW after the patch, I got 3 runs and not a single ecto droped. As I stated above, I used to always getting an ecto on my first run of the day...but not today...

Mythic antifarm code, many have made mention to it. Comes up in a tip; drops will begin to run out if you kill the same area too many times.

Unfortunately, megafarmers doing trolls etc will still pull in huge loot from white items sold to merchant.

Just take a look at green drops, when Sorrows Furnace was released, me and some mates decided to explore the area. The first boss we killed dropped an item (the un-nerfed Rockmolder BTW). then very rapidly the drops started getting rarer and rarer. Same thing with Kepkhet, I went out with some people and killed her 1h after update, she directly dropped a staff for me. Later, I killed her many times and none of the peopel I played with got any green. As Avarre said there is some mythic anti-farm code behind it.

Morgriff, Brotak, Villnar, Gordac?

I've never been affected by an anti-farming code I don't think. I've did 10 UW smite runs in a row some days and never seen any poorer drops. I don't think Anet would go to so much trouble to implement these codes but we'll never know.

I farmed trolls nonstop for 7-8 hours once. I kept getting good stuff all the time.

I still don't believe the farmingcode exists.

I agree with Avarre that there is antifarm code. When I had started playing I always noticed if you were in the same area for different quests the drops were simply not as good (*cough* Ascalon and Kaineng *cough*).

When a quest spanned multiple areas the drops usually were better.

It definitely has something to do with zoning and time spent in an area.

Well, there has always been speculation and hype concerning drop mechanics ... and no real info from ANet other than that handy pop-up box that appears if you farm an area repeatedly ...

TBH: I doubt Anet will ever tell us how the drop system works, as it could lead to exploitation and abuse ... even if it's designed to prevent it

just my two cents

you want proof ?

leave the aurios mines, you will see a boss with the name "culthist milthuran", solo farm him 7-10 times, he will stop dropping anything
zone in/out, go back kill him again, and again, no drops, not anything

When I first started playing Factions, I got drops all over the place. Now with several chars leveled up, doing varied things, not hitting the same area twice, the drops are way down. So, I think there may be an hours played penalty here too.

I just think some people have better luck than others. Why would ANet give us a popup warning us about overfarming in some situations, but then secretly nerf drops in other situations? That doesn't make sense to me.

They don't. The popups appear on Shing Jea island. I saw one of them myself. Whoever said they spotted one while farming was probably MM farming Jaya Bluffs.

I use to farm minos in elona with my warrior before Faction release and only had the anti farm code kick in once. But let me tell you, once it kicked in, I didn't get a drop from any monster in the game from anywhere in tyria for a solid hour! It sucked hard!

My way of farming is go to one place and switch after one hours or so. Never notice the drops changed or decrease to a point where nothing dropped for me

Your theory is just myth and coincidence. The way i farm is farm trolls with 55 mesmer (avarres build) then when the code kicks in i farm trolls with my warrior.
