With Protective Spirit, Spell Breaker and Healing Breeze up and running you should be safe. No one should pose any threat, especially a wand shot from a monk. Could you have accidently cast PS and SB on someone else? and so the one hit wonder from the monk killed you? It's easily done, it's happened to me afew times. When collecting drops and I cross path with my necro partner, I sometimes accidently click on him and rarely notice. Luckily for me, when I do cast enchantments on him...he screams "Arrrgh! PS...get it off me! get it off me!" so I can undo my mistake.
I have Healing Prayers on 12, switch to a +1 Healing Scalp when casting Mending for the +4 health regen. Then switch back to a +1 Divine scalp.
PS and +4 Mending is enough to tank 3/4 foes (i.e. monks, warriors, shadow beast) without any worries. Any more and it can get abit hairy and using HB helps. SB and HB are definitely needed if there are any Eles and Mesmers in the mob.
I always cast PS and SB (if there is a Mesmer or Ele in the group) prior to aggro-ing. Once aggro-ed, I use Blessed Signet to regain some energy, hit HB and kite round to get them to chase me and lead them to a safe kill spot where no roaming patrol will wander into. At the same time, I try to entice the casters to group into a ball. Once the casters are balled up, I run up to them taking any chasing warriors/shadow beast with me and prepare to cast SV.
Memsers are a pain to ball up with the Monks/Eles. They use Illusion of Haste, when that ends and they're crippled, they tend to wander off and only return once cripple ends.
While having SB on, I re-cast PS and HB whenever I feel like it.
If there is a mesmer in the mob, I wait until SB blinks for the 3rd time and then quickly re-cast PS, HB and SV. If there are melee guys then SV will drain the mesmer's (and monks) energy - less chance of a shatter enchanment. With 18 seconds SB, Blessed Aura and 19% enchantment last longer. SB is recharged before PS runs out, so I can cast SB prior to renewing PS - reducing the chance of PS being shattered on renewal.
SV is good for stopping casting but it's no guarantee that SV will drain enough to stop all casting. If the mesmer did have enough energy then SV will be shattered, and PS and HB will still keep me safe from other attacks. I used to cast PS, SV and then HB as a cover for SV, but if there are Eles in the group and the mesmer does shatter HB then the Eles can burn really good. With spike damage thrown in, HB doesn't always kick in fast enough even if it was recast upon being removed.
Duo-ing FoW is one of the best fun I've had in GW. There's a strange sense of pleasure seeing a barren land without a single Shadow or Skeletal foe in sight.
